Robbins Motel

This is a classic mid century motel. Decent mattress, great classic tub, clean and bug free. So it served the purpose of a place to stay the night before the MDI marathon. Would recommend.

Great experience. Hotel is currently being remodeled. Still a great price and clean rooms

staff was great. very reasonable pricing an amazing location with a shuttle stop across the road. Accessing the park was very easy.

Very cute little rooms, clean and comfortable

Robbins

Please don’t stay here, so that a truly honest and caring business can be available for other’s who need it and can appreciate it for what it is. Sure, it is not a 5 star motel, I think that is an oxymoron. It is not a 3 Star motel or hotel either. But the bed was fresh and clean, and we had a great night’s sleep. It’s about 5 miles or so from downtown Bar Harbor. I don’t condone drunk driving, but you probably could drink a little in town and make it here with no problems. The staff were nice and friendly. One or two might benefit from an attitude adjustment or experiencing life and affluence at the level you do or most do in this first world country. I have heard a wealthy element has been buying up the hotels and accommodations in the area, and probably worthy of attorney general scrutiny for antitrust violations and price gouging. A local described this current trend as “embarrassing.”

So yes, you will take a trip back to 1932 depression like housing perhaps, some construction that was obtained and practiced from youtube and it may need a few repairs. Also, the toilet for instance might make a peculiar sound after flushing, its the water pump. It is short lived and not annoying, just surprising. I attempted to video and attach it for your viewing and listening pleasure. Sure the 4” drain pipe in the center of the shower is uncovered, so don’t drop your wedding ring. It’s not ADA complaint, but they aren’t prejudiced against anyone. There are a few step up and downs and rough corners, but its all part of the experience. For instance, I felt like a king on my pedestal toilet experience and didn’t trip on the way down. It had decently quick hot water too.

I am a member of the shrinking class or middle class, and could not afford the $350 plus a night rooms 5 miles into Bar Harbor. But this place saved me at least a 45 minute or more drive to perhaps a nicer accommodation, but just PERHAPS.

But it was close enough after our 4 hour bike trip on the Carriage Roads in Acadia Nat’l Park and a great dinner in town. It was also close enough to start our second day of exploration refreshed after a good night sleep. Yes, there is no coffee in the rooms, but they do have a television and wifi and coffee in the office in the morning. I booked through Expedia and had no problems.

There were no druggies or shady element anywhere to be seen. Mainly there were mostly very friendly tourists from all over the states and world, and one or two unsociables from the backwoods. I was glad to save the $350 to $950 or more by staying here. Yes, they might be a little slow answering the intercom or phone as the receptionist is also running the reasonably priced motel across the street. I am not use to tipping the room service folks, judge me if you will, but I appreciated this rough little gem and the nice and friendly staff working here and helping make it affordable and enhancing my experience at Acadia Nat’l Park. So I felt compelled by the Force to leave em $20 bucks. Thank you Obi Wan, the staff and the owners of Robbins Motel…may you live long and prosper.

Ohhh I know people procrastinate, but October 2017!!
Seriously my husband and I have been bragging on this motel for years….I kept saying I was going to write a review… will it is never to late!! The owners were fabulous!! You get everything they sayno frills…Very, very clean!! They make you feel like home!!

My husband and I have quite a long history with this motel. The first time we stayed here was as newlyweds in the mid 1970s when the rate was $4 per person and we could just about afford it. We stayed for many years through the owner's son taking over. About that time we felt Acadia was becoming too well loved and was overcrowded so we started going to Newfoundland for about 25 years. Due to the pandemic we decided to vacation closer to home again so we went back to Acadia and stayed at Robbins again. It felt like coming home. It looked the same so some might say it is dated but it still has everything you need and at a good rate which again is important to us as seniors. The layout of the room is nice with built in tables at both ends and a chair for each. One table has the flat screen TV while the other is empty for your PC or to have a meal on. The bathroom is adequate with good hot water and enough towels. The location is good--close to Bar Harbor and Acadia and close enough to Ellsworth in the other direction. We stayed for four nights and were happy that the rate was reasonable. The staff was helpful and friendly even when we had to wake them up at 3 AM because we couldn't get into our room. We were overall happy with our stay and looking forward to coming back. Parking is right in front of your room so no need to carry your bags far.

If you're a hiker to the nearby Acadia National park, this is the best bang for your buck. We were out of the room most of the time, and the snug room was enough for us. There was heating and AC, and the room had a TV and a relatively large bed.
I noticed some reviews that were quite tough on the proprietors and property, but for the price, the, frankly, IDEAL location, there's nothing better for hikers in Bar Harbor. We like walking everywhere so we walked to the downtown area, but that could be a hike for others.
There's a BBQ place across the street, a mini-golf next store, and we honestly can't complain. Yes, the amenities were bare-bones, but that's what we were looking for in a hotel.
The proprietors were "hands-off" and let us be for the most part. I like this kind of service where I'm more independent and left alone. Love this place!

Hotel was clean. My only complaint is our room smelled weird. Not so bad you couldn't stay there but just not fresh. Hotel rooms are small but cute. Our shower drained very slow so we had long delays in between showers. Room and hotel were fine and assuming for the price isn't a bad deal. No frills.

Clean and cheap.

I didn't check when I booked, so it was technically my fault, but the room didn't have a fridge or microwave or a coffee maker for that matter. This is the room I stayed, I don't know if others had it. Also, the room that I stayed it's tiny, the bathroom felt like a airplane bathroom. I had to duck to take a shower since standing up, my head is above the shower head. Another complaint that I had is there's a table to the right of room and you don't have a single electrical outlet on that side, there's only two on the left side which I to share with a so I didn't even bother using my laptop since it's power hungry.

Quality was about as expected for this price. We didn’t need anything special since we were spending long days in Acadia. The place was clean and had daily house keeping. Very out dated and some broken ceiling tiles, but clean. AC worked great. The room fit our need perfectly and didn’t break the bank

Most folks writing bad reviews of this hotel did not do their research. You get a bed, a chair, a desk, a small TV, AC, and a bathroom with shower. It is an old motel. If they did renovations, they would need to increase the price. If you want to stay a few miles away from the national park entrance for under a hundred dollars, there are no other options.

This motel is best for solo travels and couples that intend to spend their time outside enjoying the park and are only using the motel for sleeping and showering. If you need any creature comforts, or even expect Motel 6 levels of accommodation, look elsewhere. For the rest of us that enjoy no frills budget accommodations, this is the place.

Great Value

Not Fancy But Affordable & Clean

Robbins Motel is a perfect fit if you are looking for basic but comfortable accommodation close to Arcadia Nat. Park. The mattresses was the best I ever encountered in a motel, rooms and bathrooms were clean. Plenty of towels and basic shampoo and soap. You get hot coffee in the morning and the staff was friendly. Only con : there was an odor in the room . Special treat: miniature golf and restaurant in walking distance.

Best mattress ever in a motel

October 2017

Comfortable, budget friendly motel close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Room could use some updating but it works. Would stay here again.

For purposes of sleeping and transition between activities, perfect place for my friend and I
