Fantastic
Stayed at the Riu Las Americas in August for 11 nights. We have stopped in lots of Riu hotels and this one is an amazing hotel, food was superb, the speciality restaurants are like going out for an a la carte meal rather than a hotel all inc. although the buffet is fab too. Quick Summary Rooms are large but a bit dated Pools are lovely, 3 in total, quiet pool, central infinity pool (this does get in the shade from early afternoon) and the activity pool. We loved the activity pool in the mornings up to about 2.00pm but after this time is does get very lively and busy (a bit 18-30’s vibe) which was too much for us so we always moved mid afternoon. Worth pointing out that from Thursday-Sunday there is an influx of large parties of girls/boys, predominantly from America. Everyone we met was very friendly and happy to chat to us but not many British UK travellers in this hotel. Met some lovely people from Texas, the english accent is a big hit. Entertainment team are all great, full of fun, they do push the Riu parties which are not at this hotel, we didn’t go to them this year but we have in the past and they are like an Ibiza Party. Beach is nice but not a long stretch as the hotel is on a corner. Not much sea weed. It is definitely worth paying the extra for a Palace Hotel, drinks all branded, waiter service is outstanding, they are everywhere getting you drinks and top ups. I think the only thing that lets the hotel down is the evening entertainment, it is very limited, I think this is because they push the parties so much. We found very little entertainment at night that was worth watching , which was a shame really. Also there is a definite damp smell around the hotel corridors, a bit like the carpets have been cleaned and then left damp. It didn’t really bother us but worth pointing out. The view from our room was amazing and the sunset in the morning was definitely worth getting ip for. All in all we had a great time and loved it. Would we go back to this hotel? Not sure as the clientele is on the younger end ie 20-40 ish (we are old now at early 50’s) and we would have liked more entertainment at night, but the hotel is amazing and you cannot go and not have a fab time with the beautiful views, food, drink and staff.
