I stayed a month at Pondok Tirta. The rooms are big,some with kitchens and all have a nice big balcony with a space to hang your own hammock. The owners and staff are all very friendly and helpful.  The place has lots of plants. Since I last stayed, they  have built a pool.
 A great place for a few days or longer stay,close to melasti beach.

Good place for short and long stay

We spent 2 months in this beautiful place during the partial lockdown. We couldn't have anything better. 
The family that runs the place is simply amazing, always smiling, super friendly, and ready to help you or to give you advices. Thank you Toya and Made!!! 
The rooms are huge with private kitchen, bathroom with hot water, aircon, and big terrace in a luxurious tropical garden. The perfect place to chill, practice yoga or drawing.
The staff is always smiling and happy, and they make your day.
They also have scooters for rent. 
The homestay is located in a quiet place but very close to everything you may need: local warungs, shop to buy veggies and fruits, beach to go swimming.
Amazing place with amazing people. Highly recommended!

Lockdown in a paradise

Beautiful private bungalows, some with kitchens, some without. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, and the staff are wonderful. The location is only minutes from the beach, and you the staff will organise any shuttles or scooters you need, for cheap prices. Amazing place!

Best spot in Amed.

Pondok Tirta Homestay is the ideal place for a long-term stay in Amed. I stayed for a month in one of the A/C rooms without kitchen. 

(Please note that the address here doesn’t show the correct spot, the homestay is on Jl. Melasti which is just off the main road into Amed.)

A little outside the main town, this homestay provides guests with a relaxed and comfortable place to spend a couple of weeks. Especially the A/C rooms are spacious with a very comfortable outside lounging area. There is space to put up your hammock as well as a lounge bed and an outside table. 
When you have to get a bit of work done while you’re there this works out perfectly fine, there are basically three possible work spaces; 2 inside and 1 outside. What is extremely convenient about this room is that there are power sockets in all the right places! Something that you definitely do not see everywhere. 

There are rooms with a kitchen (one or two stoves and a good sink) and as far as I’ve seen all rooms come equipped with a fridge and a drinking water station (a 19L water container with a tap, they will change for new ones for a small charge). The bathrooms are spacious with a comfortable warm shower. From what I understood, the hot shower and the A/C  work on gas so if one of them doesn’t appear to be working well just let them know and they refill it straight away. They provide laundry service which reasonably priced, good and timely. 

There is always somebody around to help you out with anything you need. They spend a lot of time keeping the garden and the path clean and they’re always friendly and helpful. With long-term stay they clean the room every two days and provide clean towels every week (probably more often if you request it). They always try and make sure they clean the room when it’s least inconvenient to you, so when they know you’re going out for a little while. 

Location wise, the homestay has its pros and cons. It’s quiet and outside the main town, not on the main road so ideal for some rest and relaxation. However, it is highly recommended you get yourself a  motorbike to get around. If you’re intent on walking places it takes about 10-15 minutes to the nearest shop and 20-30 minutes to the ‘center’ of Amed, which is mostly along the main road. If you do get a motorbike the access road takes a little bit of getting used to as it is not properly paved. However, it is not a busy or dangerous road so it’s really not much of an issue. 

Overall, I had an extremely comfortable stay and will definitely come back next here next time I’m in Amed. 

Ideal long-term stay in Amed

The family who run the 5 bungalows with kitchen, (some have AC) are very friendly and keep the bungalows and garden very clean. Nice kitchen and comfortable matrassen.
The bungalows are a really nice size and have a big outdoor seating. There are some mosquitos around, but not as many as I was expecting being in the rice fields.
I rented a bungalow for 3 weeks and saw that they also arrange motorbike's, boat tickets and such, for very reasonable prices.
The location outside of Amed (2 km's) inside the ricefields, makes it relatively quiet, compared to the villages on the main road. The roosters just live a bit further away. 
Currently 2 bungalows are rented by long term stayers who own dogs. Generally they keep quiet at night. 
The lush garden keeps it relatively cool during the day.

Just 50 meters from the bungalows is a new restaurant, named warung me siki.

Very tasty foods, for very decent prices. If you rent incl. Breakfast, you can eat it there, or have it brought to the bungalow.
They cook fresh, without msg, and will ask how (non) spicy you like your foods. They also do water refill there and have a little shop with snacks.

From pondok Tirta it's a 10 min walk to the beach, where locals go. You can walk to Amed over the beach if you wear shoes. It's better to rent a scooter to get around, as there is no public transport nearby.
The morning market in Culik is only 2 km's away. So you can buy fresh fruits and store them in the fridge.

Prices start (low season) for fan bungalow, hot water shower incl a good breakfast for 2ppl 175K.

Coming from Culik, 1km for Amed, take a left exit to Jalan Melasti, where there are the signs Pondok Tirta (blue) and Ashling Villa (white). Follow the road for 500 meters, you will see it on your left.

The best snorkling is in Jemeluk, which is a 10 min ride on the scooter. Tulamben (USS liberty wreck) 20 mins, Amed 3 mins.
