Point View Arugambay Deans Beach Hotel and Restaurant

Food was excellent value for money. We ordered fresh fish off the BBQ and it was super tasty. We also had a avocado and egg roti which was excellent.
Owner is a wide-boy but innocent enough. He organised our driver to Arugam Bay. It was cheap but the car was an old banger and not the fancy car he'd pointed out to us at first. Rookie mistake on our part but make sure you confirm exactly which can and take a photo if you can before paying any deposit etc.

Restaurant review only 

We enjoyed a really good south Indian dinner here. Only complaint was the service was quite slow and one person in our group waited a lot longer for some of their dishes. The chicken tikka masala was delicious and had lots of chicken in it. One thing to note - the butter naan is just a plain naan smothered in margarine...

we rent deans villa in arugam bay for long turm. on the 2 nd day deans worker who got keys to all villa, brake in and steal all our money. dean didnt take any detalis from his worker and now refuses to take responsability for the case. no insurance in his house. bad service . maybe he workes with the guy that stole from us. be ware!!  we came with my baby and my mom!  so bad expirience!!

From the outside this hotel looks like it will  be a nice place to stay with its ocean front location. However it is terribly rundown and the rooms have considerable water damage - the bathroom area was dirty and had poor shower facilities.  Every time it rained the power went off in our room and the staff seemed annoyed with our requests to fix this ongoing problem.

Terribly disappointing

Just don't do it. 
We've stayed for 2 nights and had to change rooms 4 times. Firstly because the fan rooms have no ventilation- secondly the toilet didn't flush - thirdly the room smelt like it hasn't been cleaned in years- and then we finally got an OK room and we paid extra for aircon and they turned off the electricity to it in the middle of the night. No one was around to help us, and I checked at 2am/4am and again and 6 and no one! 
Our friend stayed in a single room and complained as the bathroom hadnt been cleaned in a long time. So they brought someone in to sweep it... And that was it! Before we were allowed to enter a room to look at it they sprayed it thoroughly with air freshener. And the bathroom has no ventilation points so it's just rotting mould everywhere. 
Staff are not helpful. And it's so unfortunate as the location is amazing but not worth the hassle!
