After some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive but could not fault a single thing we took our grandson for a three night stay first time there we were in the barnyard lodge the lodge was spacious and spotlessly clean we used the pool and the bar restaurant again could not fault anything we can’t wait to revisit piperdam again may try the lodges with hot tubs

3rd visit and it won’t be our last, such a relaxing atmosphere, plenty of woodland for the dogs to enjoy, well stocked bar and very friendly staff, always feel so relaxed here and the lodges are well equipped and presented and spacious.
We have always stayed in the Muirloch spa which comes with a sauna and fenced off external hot tub, perfect for relaxing and unwinding.

We just came back on Wednesday from a 2 night stay here for my 40th with my partner and our boxer dog ...we loved it and so did frankie,  we stayed in lodge 47 the muirloch spa plus   just the one bedroom and it was perfect so big plenty of space for frankie to roam and even better the hot tub are was very secure no chance of him escaping ! lodge itself was perfect everything we needed plus more very clean and bedroom and bathroom were very big! Great walks for frankie even jsut round the resort as its set in the woods ideal for him , resort itself was very dark could be doing with more lighting around the place and reception car park area ! didn't get to use any facilities due to having frankie with us but we loved it xx

We stayed 4 nights and played the Piperdam main course Monday and Friday. One of our lodges had been refurbished, but all were perfectly maintained and kitted out. The friendliness of the staff we saw was excellent, particularly Eoin (hope the spelling is right) and Davey in the pro-shop, and Gill the manager. 

It was my 60th birthday on the Wednesday and we ate out a lot, but we did go to the bar for drinks. I also went in the very warm pool.

None of us ruled out visiting again, perhaps with families (there seemed lots going on during the day), even though we all live in Hertfordshire. I would recommend Piperdam as a base for exploring, or just to relax.

Our second visit since February and again the Lochside Premier Spa lodge number 104  ( last time was 108) was excellent. Couple of niggles with electricity tripping but was sorted out swiftly. Reception staff are very polite and accommodating . The restaurant menu is poor  but again bar staff are polite and helpful so we went to St Andrew’s and got some good ingredients and cooked for ourselves. Weather was great and the tub was good. All in a great time. We’ll definitely be back.

We are currently staying in the Byron Premier Lodge number 89. A two bed lodge. Nice corner site, private too. 
We have had a great stay. Lodge is lovely, very clean. Hot tub was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying here. Very relaxing.
Reception staff are very friendly and helpful.

We were worried reading the recent reviews of Piperdam and actually considered cancelling.  However, we went with it and have just come back from the most perfect stay.  We stayed in the Galbraith Premier and it was spotless, hot tub was one of the cleanest I have ever seen and they had left us a Christmas tree saving us a trip to buy one.   We ate out at the restaurant which has a limited menu, but still gave plenty of choice, and everyone enjoyed it.   We also had Christmas dinner out and again it was lovely and no complaints at all.  Special mention to the staff who were all very friendly and helpful.  

We are already wanting to book for next year.  

My kids would complain about the lack of WiFi but we saw it as a positive 😂

Like other people after reading reviews I was dreading going and expecting the worst. Wasn’t pleased when we got email telling us check in wasn’t until 6pm Friday  and check out 9:30am Sunday but worked out perfect for us. We sat in bar for couple of hours whilst waiting on our key but it was lovely with gorgeous big fire Xmas music was on and bar manager was so organised and friendly. Got our key at 6pm and finished our drinks and headed to our sauna lodge number 3. As said previously expected it to be dirty but it was spotless and cosy and warm. Stopped of for an evening meal before arriving as knew there was a small menu so only needed snacks wen we got back to lodge and enjoyed hot tub and sauna. Next day it was rainy/snowy so went to bar after using hot tub and sauna again and sat in front of fire with cocktails it was lovely relaxed atmosphere. That night a lovely young girl was singing in bar so we went back to club again and it was a great night and it turned into a karaoke so everyone was involved and enjoyed themselves. All in all it was a much needed break for myself and husband and we really enjoyed ourselves as we have previous visits. Staff at reception and bar were lovely and housekeeping did a great job as did hot tub guy. Will definitely be returning ASAP.

Stayed in one of the dog friendly Lochside premier lodges for a long weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, cleanliness and standard of the lodges after reading some of the reviews. 

Despite COVID cleaning regimes etc we were able to check in early and found the 8 person lodge to be extremely spacious, light and airy and immaculately clean. The six lodges are very well spaced out and have a huge decking area which is enclosed. Each bedroom had its own bathroom en-suite and there were fresh towels for everyone and a welcome pack which included dishwasher tablets, cloths and dish towels. The heating was easy to work, the hot tub up to temperature and checked daily. As we had to bring our own towels for the swimming pool, the washer drier was used everyday and was easy to work. Smart TVs allowed the kids to watch movies of their choice and the pool table was used the entire weekend!!

The swimming needed to be booked in advance and there was a member of staff on hand to go over COVID regulations before we got in. It’s a 1hr slot which was more than enough and the kids loved being back in the pool after over a year going without swimming!

We used the takeaway service from the restaurant one night and ordered over the phone (although you can use the app too). The food was ok - some meals better than others but overall not bad for the price. 

There were lovely walks up the local hill and around the golf course and activities for the kids on the Sunday (COVID has meant there’s less on throughout the week). In all it was a really lovely stay and we would definitely return. 


We have recently returned from a week stay at Galbraith number 93. After being here in August (Osprey Spa Plus - 63) we were anxious about the cleanliness but this lodge was absolutely spotless! Piperdam is somewhere we come each year and this trip has absolutely reminded us why. The newer lodge was amazing. Could not figure out how to work the hob but after a quick call maintenance were up to show us. The hot tub was great, hot all week and checked daily. Absolutely no complaints what so ever. Staff helpful and friendly as usual. We didn’t use the bar/restaurant on this occasion due to restrictions but we did wish we booked this for check in. Excellent stay just a shame we had to leave. We look forward to returning to the Galbraith next year which is already booked!

excellent stay 

I read the reviews before we travelled and was very apprehensive.  I have got to say we had a fantastic holiday.  The lodge was clean, plentiful towels, dishwasher tablets, excellent hot tub & sauna.  Gorgeous, quiet surroundings.  Staff plentiful and very helpful.  We enjoyed footgolf and a great value for money meal in the restaurant.  Yes the sofas may have been a bit tired looking but still comfortable, we paid a fraction of the price we pay for centre parcs in England and enjoyed it just as much.  Will definitely return. 

Don't judge by the reviews we had excellent stay

Went for sister 60th birthday . Staff at reception and maintenance guys were brilliant . We did take car and due to this we had a bit of a walk , reception staff arranged for all our bags to be taken down to lodge , weather on arrival was very wet , so lots of flooding and water on roads and pathways . The lodge was perfect and so spacious absolute luxury, rooms and lodge well equip for 8 women !! 
Only down was the lodge wasn’t as clean as I would have hoped , but didn’t waste the weekend in anyway . 
Hot tub was brilliant and checked each morning . Food in restaurant was reasonably priced . 
The shop had very little choice and didn’t stock ice which I thought was strange . The resort had plenty to do and plenty activities from young to old .
Would I come back ? YES , but with car next time .

Arrived in trepidation as reviews for resort had been poor though improving
As a family of 11 in our lodge we were delighted with the whole lodge. The rooms and bathrooms were all clean.
The games room was excellent and gave loads of pleasure to us all over the weekend.
Sauna and hot tub were also well used.
Reception, Restaurant, Activity barn and Pool were well staffed and the service and cleanliness excellent.
There were some issues with lighting, door handle and appliances which required dealing with. On reporting most issues were dealt with politely and promptly.
TLC  and updating is required throughout.
All enjoyed their experience and ages ranged from 70 + to 5 years.

Vegas Spa Lodge Brilliant for our Family

Expensive for what it is. Weather was poor which isn't anyone's fault of course and there are indoor activities available but it all costs extra (I think the pool is free) which was disappointing given that cost was almost £1000 for 4 nights. There are nice places to go in the area like the children's adventure park and zoo where we went on the only sunny day, so that was lovely. The restaurant and staff are nice and the food was pretty good being a vegan. The grounds around the lodges are too rough for cycling. The most disappointing aspects was queuing for a long time to check in as there was only one person on the  front desk; and not being able to contact anyone when I arrived back home regarding a £60 water filter jug, filter, and cool bag which I left in the Lodge. They will have known who stayed at the lodge but made no attempt to return it or contact me. I tried to call numerous times but there was never anyone at the front desk who dealt with lost property to come to the phone so I gave up. I just bought a new one today which reminded me of the cost and reminded me of the poor experience last year. The pool is nice and there's a cute little jacuzzi area that even the kids can use.

Average and expensive.

I found the lodge to be good. Door was faulty onto decking and grandchildren got stuck outside, had to climb onto decking to get back in. 
I can’t believe in 2023 that the lodge does not have Wi-Fi or internet. Found the beer a bit tepid. Kids had a good time though. Segway was well enjoyed by Grandson.

Pleasant family break

We visited in between Christmas and New Year 2022. Group of 18 family members in 5 separate lodges.  General consensus was that the lodges required upgrades to the furniture and lighting. The roads all over the complex were in a shocking condition with enormous pot holes everywhere and actually dangerous trying to walk at night as the lighting outside is very dim. Noticed that some people were offered torches when issued with their keys so make sure you request one. The bar and restaurant was fine and we enjoyed the spa. The lodges were sold at a reduced rate but I certainly would not pay the full price as the site requires investment.

Some improvements required

It was our second trip after  12 year gap and stayed in the Vegas again with friends. Overall it was good but when we arrived there were dirty towels left, bins unemptied and broken furniture left in the games room.
The whole lodge needs a good update. Pots and pans all old and tatty, radiators are rusty, cupboard doors are hanging off, panels on the outside either loose or off completely, all the games are old and weathered with bits missing. Another useful addition would be charging points for cars at each lodge.

Overall it was good and the staff were really helpful and we would return but for the price you pay for the vegas, we would wait until it had been updated.
