We visited Augustow for a long weekend (Thur-Tues). We flew to the new RyanAir destination of Olsztyn-Mazury Airport. A rental car had been booked. Then drove to Augustow and Pensjonat u Marianny (saves 1hr over the Warsaw route). This family run accommodation has been used by us over 15 or so years - and we stayed in the new building for the first time. It is popular and caters for wedding parties etc. The original accommodation nearer to the lake is still used - so be specific when you make your booking. We had buffet breakfast each day - excellent value and quality as good as ever (main meals were elsewhere according to our itinerary). The rooms are fresh and met our needs (though no English channels on TV). WiFi is good. The parties that took place there did not bother us. The management very obliging. Whilst in Augustow we enjoyed boat trips and kayaking in the surrounding region. The ice cream there is to die for :) Bird life - some great opportunities for the keen photographer.
