What a wonderful place, we really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The hotel location is what we like so much especially that it’s near wadi bani Khalid, Whaiba sands and easy to go sur, Ashkara and Masira.. I recommend it

Good place  for the family, in terms of location it’s the main road , good place to have food  in that area , good place to stay  ,

The Location is near to   Wadi Bani Khalid   , so you can visit  both locations A'Sharqiyah Sands and 
Wadi Bani Khalid .

I have the impression that they only get their high ratings because they are the place with the best presence on booking platforms in the region. The 'apartments', as they call it, are not even equipped with the most basic stuff for preparing food or hot drinks. Yes, there was a small kitchen pantry next to the room but there were no dishes, no cutlery, no pots or pans etc. The price is way too high for what you get!

Too expensive 

Before we booked our hotel stay, we had corresponded months in advance with the Manager/Owner over WhatsApp. He had helped us with precise directions and answered all our queries happily.

The day we arrived, they were surprised to find us there. It looked like we might have been the only guests there. But that didn't affect the service one bit. We were greeted by the owner couple who were themselves visiting from Muscat. We were introduced to Mr. Gopal, the cook, who took excellent care of our pure veg Indian food needs. The owner also helped organise 2 drivers for us - one for our excursion to the nearby Wadi Bani Khalid... and the other for the sunrise view at Wahiba Sands. Both the drivers were polite, charged reasonable and felt safe.

The hotel itself looked like a vast property, parts of it still getting developed. There's a whole lounge area done up in traditional Omani style, with lowlevel plush seating, coffee table with a thermos of hot coffee, some dates and a water bowl. The outdoors have ample visitor parking, children's play area, a garden with aloes, date trees and some more vegetation. There also seemed to be some kind of outdoor party area for family functions or such.

It was nice to come out in the night to gaze at the moon, the stars and what appeared to be a part of the galaxy. 

The outdoors were also fitted with sensor-lighting which i appreciated.

Our room was spacious for 2 people, the bathroom large with a tub. After we came back from Wadi Bani Khalid, we enjoyed a good soak time in the tub :)

The food was delicious for all our meals. We were free to choose from the fruits Gopal ji generously offered. He also made awesome espresso and cold coffee for us. We weren't given an itemised bill though, it was a blanket charge of 7 OMR for 2 people.

We wish we had a longer stay here. If you are planning to visit Al Asharqiyah Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid like us, this is your place to sleep the night off.

For directions - go off the exit 159 on Muscat-Sur highway. We came via Mwasalat Bus and our driver already knew the hotel, so he dropped us precisely there. Another landmark to confirm the location is the Maha Petrol Pump located at exit 159. The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the petrol pump complex.

Convenient Location, Well-Maintained and Affordable

We wanted to go to wadi Ben Khalid and found this nice and beautiful hotel on the way. Everything was clean, the apartment suite was bright and quit and the sign on the top, "feel free like at home" describes it perfect. We spent five days here and the manager Mohammed is so nice, to tell you everything about the country, the culture and the history of Oman, if you want. We would like to say thanks to everyone at the hotel, especially to Mohammed, who also drove us in the morning to the desert, to see the sunrise. Greets from Ronny and Katha and all the best.

A perfect stop in the desert

Me and my husband stayed here only 1 night and we were the only guests in the Hotel. In the evening they made coffee and tea for us. That was nice. The rooms were clean and big. 
Breakfast was enough. Butter , cheese, honey and omelette. 
There is a place in the garden which you can watch the sunset. It was nice.

Perfect for 1 night

We stayed at oriental nights rest house for one night, as a stop over before we drove to the coast. 
The room was clean and had everything we needed for one night. For dinner we were able to order food at the reception which was also very good and only cost us 7 OMR. The staff was also very nice and open, we even got tea and coffee to the room by the receptionist. 

All in all this place is quite underrated, with 55 eur per night for a double room it offered a lot. 

As a stopover the best choice in the desert

I chose this as the place to stay the first night on a loop trip from Muscat down to Sur and then up again toward Nizwa.  It seemed to be located far enough from Sur to save me some good travel time on Day 2, but not too far to make Day 1 too long.  I could have traveled another hour or two northward, but that is with hindsight.  The room was clean and nice.  The bed was comfortable.  The a/c worked well.  There is a hot water heater in the bathroom; just remember to turn on the power switch for it.  I slept well without having to use earplugs.  The owner was very generous by giving me 4 bottles of water when I asked if I could buy some.  He and his family were eating in the restaurant, and the food smelled very good (although I did not eat there myself).  The biggest problem is that the property essentially does NOT have WiFi.  They have some kind of WiFi service, but it works only in the lobby, and it really doesn’t work well enough there to fool with trying to use it.  It connects, but seconds later disconnects, and it repeats that over and over and over.  I really needed to deal with some travel plans for Friday, but it was impossible.  Part of the problem may have been that as soon as they connected the WiFi for me, two of the employees were there using their phones, so it was a bad connection that was then being shared by 3 of us with the employees taking up bandwidth that meant I, as a guest, could do nothing.  I gave up and told them that if it doesn’t stay connected, they might as well not say they offer WiFi.

Comfortable, But Forget Trying to Do Anything on WiFi

There was nobody at the check-in counter in the morning when we wanted to try to talk about an early check-in. The water is shut off at night and I don't know when it turns back on. It is serviceable -- we were able to get a shower and sleep in a bed. We didn't try the food. It's accessible to Bidiya, al Mintarib, and Wadi Bani Khalid. Near a new highway that is just getting finished as of 12/2018.

The hotel may not be the most charming, but the staff is doing a great job, the food at the restaurant is really good and the rooms are clean and have all you need. All in all the price is excellent for what you get!
