Cat Ong Beach Cottages

We visited this resort as part of a 3D2N trip of halong bay. Based on the reviews we were very apprehensive but we turned up and were pleasantly surprised. YES it’s basic. YES there’s rubbish being washed up on the beach but for some reason western people don’t seem to take into consideration that the ocean is choppy and there is a town across the way from the island so OF COURSE rubbish is going to be washed up. Most of Vietnamese coastline around halong has littler and it pretty much no good for swimming so you can’t come here expecting perfect swimming conditions. There has been a lot of effort put into the decor of this place but it has a rustic feel, it’s not run down. Plus it seems they are still putting work in to make it better. There’s an attention to detail in the rooms and it’s clean and presentable. Overall I would say it’s definitely worth it as apposed to staying on the boat for 2 nights as it’s more relaxed and easy going. We could not have stayed 2 nights on the boat. Ignore bad reviews as most of these people are probably stuck up their own backsides and inconsiderate when visiting poorer countries :) Thanks for the stay!!!!
