New Melati Hotel

Gorontalo

     After leaving the Togean Islands, we needed a place to stay in Gorontalo before we caught a flight back to Makassar.  Our island resort noted that many of their customers often stayed in the New Melati Hotel.  We arranged for transport from the Gorontalo ferry through the hotel and were met by a tuk-tuk (motorized rickshaw) driver who loaded up us and our luggage for the 15 minute drive into the town.  The New Melati Hotel is a small complex of buildings on a pleasant street with a wide plaza in front (great for walking out at night when it is finally cooler).  
     Our room was adequately furnished, clean, quiet, and with a comfortable bed.  The AC was quite tepid, and the bathroom was open to the outside through vents, so it was important to keep the bathroom door closed so as not to make the AC struggle even more.  Management spoke English, and it turned out that this is the New Melati Hotel, owned by the great-grandson of the man who began the first Melati Hotel.  We met the owner’s grandfather and had a wonderful chat about his project to renovate the original hotel - now in a food court conveniently located next door to the hotel.  There is also a mini-mart immediately adjacent, so besides the breakfast in the mornings, it is quite easy to get your other food/snack options satisfied within steps of the hotel.  We also wanted to explore the town further, so used the original tuk-tuk driver to take us around the town.  It was a perfect stop over place for us, and certainly budget friendly.

I prefer this hotel because of the welcoming staff and good amenities in the rooms at an affordable cost. and, The front desk is welcoming and very helpful, the personnel is polite and friendly, the check-in process is quick, and the food is variety.

Visiting Comfort 

The hotel's amenities, which include a conference room, restaurant, and gym, are relatively complete. If you don't like hotel food, there are plenty of places to eat on the road outside the hotel at night; we encourage you to venture out for some gastronomic adventures. The motel is conveniently located.

Good Hotels

The staff and hotel maids treated me with kindness, and I thought the service was excellent. I believe that the first impression I had of this hotel was sufficient for me to have faith in its comfort and service.

Best First Service

My goal for a holiday is to find tranquility, and I find complete calm at this hotel, which, in my opinion, has easy access to nearby tourist attractions. As a result, I no longer need to search for alternative routes to the recreation area I want to visit.

Near with any attraction

The importance of a hotel with a strong network connection cannot be overstated. Because of the spot's poor internet connection, there are frequently a few spots that irritate me. For us as guests, the hotel's wifi is quite useful.

Fast Internet Connection

Every morning, cleaners and maids visit us to clean and organize our room. In addition, the cleaners are constantly assessing our comfort while staying at the hotel. i feel their level of service towards cleaning should be appreciated

Cleanliness is maintained by the service

The underwater area is something I admire, but I am not a diving expert. In my opinion, New Melati Hotel provides good care in teaching a diving course to a layman like me, and I also prefer to use a bicycle as my primary mode of transportation. According to me, the hotel's bicycle rental makes it easier for me to travel carbon-free.

I booked this hotel as it was suggested by the dive shop I used during my stay and the photos looked good. I booked the deluxe room but was disappointed when I got to my room, especially when compared to the front of the hotel. I imagine the pandemic hasn't helped, and perhaps the place was once a good option, but my deluxe room was basic and very tired looking - especially the bathroom. When I compare it to homestays in Bali for about the same price, this definitely was not what I had expected. 

The breakfast was very poor - a sandwich with lots of margarine and chocolate sprinkles for the filling, accompanied by some fruit, a few bits of tomato and some sliced cucumber. To be clear, I wasn't expecting a continental breakfast or anything fancy but it would have been good to be given an option such as eggs and toast. 

During the night, the lamps in the corridors outside the rooms are left on and there is no option for guests to turn them off themselves. The curtains do not block this light out so, at 23.45, I eventually went to speak to someone about turning the lights off. I was told that they do not get turned off until 5am as it would be too dark otherwise(!). However, the light directly outside my room was turned off enabling me to get some sleep at last. 

The grounds across from the hotel had music playing in the evening which could be heard in the hotel so I ended up putting my headphones on to try to block it out. I understand this is common in Indonesia, and not the fault of the hotel, but it's something to consider if you will have down time in the hotel in the afternoon. 

Thankfully the hotel allowed me to check out the following morning despite me having asked to stay a week.

A low budget option

One of the hotel in Gorontalo city which is very suitable for lovers of locations near urban areas.Places to eat are also very close to this hotel.The room price is also still quite fitting with the cost rather cheap especially including breakfast. This hotel is the only hotel in Gorontalo that has a garden. Tourist information is also very complete in this hotel especially for foreign tourists.
