I am somewhat of a local to the island being of PR descent, speaking Spanish fluently, and a frequent traveler here.  For me this experience was exactly what I was looking for.  Although challenging to find, Carlos stayed with me on the telephone until I safely arrived.  Off of PR 187 you will turn at Kilometer marking 5.2 and from there it is a straight shot.

I stayed in the basement apartment and I found it clean and purposeful for my needs.  The A/C works wonderfully and if you leave the bedroom door open the A/C feeds the entire apartment.  The kitchen is sparse but functional for making a small pot of coffee, sandwiches, oatmeal, rice/beans, but is not equipped to do a big or full meal.  The knives are not very sharp, there is no cutting board, strainers, and there are only two medium sized pots on the cook top.  The kitchen does not have a toaster, oven, frying pan.  The good news is that the hotel is in one of the best areas in all of Puerto Rico to EAT OUT!!!!  Pinones has many affordable kiosks along PR 187 with a host of delicious and affordable fritters and meals that will delight you!

The most wonderful part of this hotel, and for me the most magical was the roof top view of the lagoon.  Sitting out there at night, doing yoga there in the morning, having a quick lunch under the umbrella, give outstanding views of iguanas crossing the waters, birds of all types soaring above, the music of the coqui....etc.  AWESOME!

Yes there is the semi-constant noise and presence of airplanes, but that did not bother me.  For me, watching those immense aircrafts fly over heard with their engines soaring at night, was my own private air show.

The access to the kayaks is a great plus, but you must be able to maneuver them out and in on your own.  Carlos was very helpful in giving me some pointers of where to explore on the lagoon.  Carlos was also very willing to give me insider tips on local hang out spots, best beaches, favorite eats, and more.  

I think this is a gem of a spot!

Lovely Lagoon Setting

I pressed a reserve button to hold the spot for 10 min while checking to see if they could accommodate me when I arrived. They charged my card the whole amount.  I contacted Expedia to let them know I didn't want to stay at a place like this and they wouldn't help me, so I called my bank to reverse charges. I was successful, but the following week the place charged my bank the full amount.  I never stayed there and this was done after I was supposed to stay there. I would NOT recommend a place that has such poor ethical business standards.

As we arrive the owner is trying to remove all of the stray dogs out of the driveway. Not safe for children. Then he says I owe him 15 percent of the price that I paid from expedia, that's his policy he said. No towels or running water in the room.No bedding. The place is off the map too. Very hard to find. He said if I cancel I'll lose all my money. I called expedia and expedia said that in the policy is stated that if I cancel I'll get fifty percent of my money back. I did. Carlos doesn't even know his policy. On top of all this a drunk driver hit my car while I was parked in his driveway. Also plans buzz over the property every five minutes. Spend a couple of dollars more and stay in a more popular district like Carolina.

Don't waste your money or time!

The apt was clean and sparse.  The photos are accurate.  Our taxi driver could not find the place because of it's' obscure location.  The two-level building seemed well-built and safe.  However, night time was very challenging--airplanes, police sirens, car alarms, many dogs barking.  On the lagoon side, the view from the deck was enjoyable.  We watched fish swim by and boaters and jet skis cruising as well.  Juan the host was very helpful and courteous.

Clean but lacking

Was there in feb 2014. Don't go by the photos. It's horrible. The surrounding area is not safe. No hot water or comforters. U can get a much better place for this price. There is a dog in the opposite home which barked a night. Basic neccesities were not provided. Will not go bam there
