Bush Ride Safari Lodge

After looking at 3 lodges in Kanye we were so disappointed and about to leave town ... but we held out and found Motse Lodge + Cultural Village in a tranquil setting at the edge of town and were delighted. A charming friendly lady named Faith welcomed us, showed us the property, and we immediately sat down for drinks in the bar / swimming pool area. Lucky us, there was a cultural festival on that evening and we were privileged to meet so many elegant Botswanans dressed up for a big Friday night. Faith ensured we got a delicious dinner cooked to order, and we sampled some traditional side dishes of morogo (spicy spinach) and mabelle (sorghum). After chatting with several locals we retired to our spacious chalet. The beds were very comfortable and it was a nice relief to have good air-con after the blistering 41C heat. Such a great experience, and not even an hour back to the South Africa border in the morning. This was our most authentic experience during a week of Botswana travel and looking back we were pleased we held out and went to Motse!
