Minahasa Lagoon

This resort has a interesting mix of items to discuss. Firstly the staff was always courteous and helpful, always working to tend to the grounds or dining area, and were interesting to speak with. The driver met me at the airport and was safe in driving to the resort. Upon arrival the greeting and briefing was also good. At the time I was at the resort there were 5 guests then 3 then just me. So it was very quiet and many be worth checking with the resort for high and low season. I was told many Chinese people go to this resort at certain times of the year, but there were very few people there while I was there. While I was at the resort the diving operation was Eco Divers, which may no longer be the diving operator at this location. I found the Eco Divers to be very good. The vessels ran well and the food on the boat was good and the dive guides were also very good. As some times I was the only diver, it was just the D.M. and I diving so it was great. There are lots of odd and interesting creatures to see and I liked the diving near the resort best as this was were the most strange creatures resided. The diving on the Bunaken island was also good, but I liked the muck dives best. Upon return to the resort after diving they have a outdoor shower and the pool was great. If there is no one else in the pool it is possible to swim laps.. It would be possible to swim in the area in front of the resort but the bottom is rocky and the water is shallow so the pool is a better choice. The dining was good but I requested Indonesian food after the first few meals as I was looking for more spice and flavor. The rooms, little cottages were nice and had bed nets. Insects were not a issues while I was there, but as the W.C. has access to the outside you always need to keep the doors to the outside closed. Small lizards are common and will most likely enter your room, which is great as they will try to eat any insects that do get in. They have 2 rows on cottages on the beach, and row of cottages overlooking the water from a hill side and some double cottages in the garden area. I was in the garden area and found this to be a good quiet location. The only problem is the Taxi that drive by with loud music on to attract customers, they seem to come by at few times a day and you will hear them. Also the night is very dark and the stars are very bright and incredible to view.
