Great location - accessible with public transportation (airport shuttle bus) and only a 4 minute walk from O'Connell Street.
Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady working the day shift.
Surprisingly rich continental breakfast with toast, cheese, variety of jams, cereals, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee and tea. Definitely more that we expected.
The big luggage room is great and the staff lets you store your bags before check in and after check out but it`s without supervision so anyone can take someone else's bag. We recommend to secure two or more bags together with a padlock.
The building is old and in serious need of a make over. The walls and ceiling are very thin and you can hear every noise from the nearby rooms. Also, a new coat of paint would help to refresh the space. 
We reserved two beds in a dormitory room for 4 with shared bathroom and got a room for 6 but only 4 bedding sets so it was not the room we saw on the photos when reserving.
No table lamps, only a main light in the room wich is unpractical.
Two lockers in the room were broken but the other two could fit a carry on suitcase. If you don`t have a padlock you can rent/purchase one at reception.
No usb phone chargers in the room but an adapter for your regular charger can be purchased at reception.

Basic hostel but surprisingly rich breakfast

When were there we found it clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful. The kitchen had what we needed for our stay and the free breakfast was basic, but good. We never had to wait for a shower because they have a new shower room in the basement. We spent 5 nights in the 6 bedroom. The lockers were big enough to fit two backpacks, which was perfect for us.

Perfect for our needs!

Hotel is super basic in old facilities(but still nice :)) so, to begin with the building is an old building but still has some pretty and cozy areas, they give you a average breakfast, rooms are huge and have a lot of space but no A/C(however, I don't think it's needed with the cold weather in Dublin, but is worth to mention), power outlets are minimum for the whole room, had one right by my bed and everyone in the room wanted to use it, not even myself could use it. bus station is really close and is like 10 minutes distance from Trinity College and grafton street. Staff was extremely helpful, I highly appreciate it!

Basic hotel

Really standard hostel. It's in a massive old building which means there is no lift and it's noisy because everything echos. As it's a cheap hostel in a super expensive city, it seemed to attract a few odd characters. We had an old fella in our room swear at us and rant at us in gaelic a couple of times. 

There are plenty of showers about which is good and the rooms are fairly well sized. There's free toast and cereal in the mornings which is a great bonus. 

If you're looking for a bed in a good location.. and some free toast, it's great value for money.

Big standard hostel

I tried to get a private room, but none were available, even several months in advance. Ended up booking all 4 beds in a 4 bed dorm, with private bath. Room was therefore spacious. Bathroom was equivalent to an RV bathroom; miniature sink, and shower. With earplugs, we slept fine. Just stay away from the room between the stairs and common bathroom 65 stairs up (not sure if it was technically the 3rd floor), if you don't want to here people coming and going all night. And wear earplugs. It is a short walk down to Parnell and O'Connell streets and public transportation access. Breakfast was generous, but  we only used it one day, as we had early plans on the other days. When I compare to staying in a nearby hotel though, it was a good value.

Basic accommodations

This is a budget hostel within a 10 minute to the city center and the heart of Dublin, that was a great perk to staying here. Another positive about staying here was the WIFI, it worked well. 

Unfortunately that is where the good aspects end. This wasn't a cheap place to stay, the city is expensive, so there was very little value staying here as it was still expensive. The breakfast was terrible, there was no lift, and we had to carry our bags 6 flights of stairs. Also, EXTREMELY noisy at night, and was woken up every single night.

Know what you are booking.

The rooms were all nice and clean with lockers provided, you buy a panicky for 2€ at the reception. The kitchen was a great size and meant we could prepare our meals there, making the trip more affordable. Breakfast is provided and is basic but good. 
The bathrooms aren’t really big enough for the number of people but you don’t normally have to wait too long. Some members of staff weren’t very helpful with advice of what to do and see in the area but others were helpful and enthusiastic.

Amazing kitchen

Of course it depends on what you want, but if you want a clean, quiet place to sleep you'd better look for other options. Hygiene clearly not proper, inadequate ventilation and noise from people shouting in the hostel as well as from the street... It's worth spending something more for a better deal.

Find something better...

We spent a few days there and even though we were a little sceptic about our stay in a hostel,our choice rewarded us.
Very helpful and patient staff (i didn't stop asking questions!), clean room and other facilities 
The best thing was the use of the kitchen so we had the chance to prepare other meals as well in order to avoid further expenses

Great stay

I am confused by the "tallaght cross west hotel" name. This is a review for MEC Mount Eccles Court Hostel on 42 North Great Georges Street, Dublin - *a stones throw* (very close to) the city centre. A five minute walk from O'Connell Street.  Close to Blessington basin, close to the Joyce Museum, Close to *the spire* and a very good place to base oneself for a trip to Dublin City. Close to the GREEN LINE PARNELL Luas Stop. Close to the Hugh Lane Gallery. I recommend this property at its current price, it is value for money. Choose a bed in the corner, the lats in these old buildings bounce creating a vibrancy that can disturb while sleeping.
