We had a brilliant 10 days at Maradiva Villa Resort in mid November. It was to mark our 30th wedding anniversary and the team there worked really hard to make sure it was special. The hotel itself is beautiful and the villas are spectacular - so much space indoors and out and fabulous pool. But I think the thing that made it even more special were the people who work there - they really could not do enough for us and were genuinely friendly and helpful. Every single person we came across really made our day. There were a few who stood out - Babita the housekeeper decorated our room almost every day with flowers and spectacular towel sculptures, Diken on reception was so positive and friendly and just genuinely nice, Sharronne in the main restaurant really looked after us well, as did Manish. We also had a cookery lesson with Modasseer who was excellent - very patient and informative but again just genuinely nice and fun. We would definitely recommend it. We did have a couple of observations for improvements - the food / menu in the main restaurant was not up to the standard of rest of hotel, particularly lack of local dishes, the main bar area was a little soulless and not a place you'd want to spend time compared to the atmosphere in sister hotel. The grounds are spectacular and there was a large team of gardeners working constantly - it was just a shame that the beach was not cleared of dead leaves and foliage. But overall we would recommend it highly.
