The cottages are old and tatty. The main hotel reception looks very nice but when you get to the cottages there has clearly not been any money spent on these for a long time. From broken wall heaters to mold on the bathroom walls, the place needs some desperate care. Kitchen was also bad, oven door would not close, not enough cutlery for four people and fridge was dirty inside. The outside cushions had not been cleaned since they were bought obviously. Everything very run down. Very disappointed.

Old and in need of a makeover.

The Maliba river lodge is a very nice place to relax. It is very comfortable. The food is very good. We loved our stay there as a group at Maliba Lodge. We stayed in one of the self catering chalets by the river which was beautiful and peaceful. The food at the restaurant was amazing! The dinners were true three course marvels! Such a beautiful setting where we were able to hike

Gorgeous lodge in breathtaking mountains (aka Mountain Kingdom)

We loved our stay at Maliba Lodge.  We stayed in one of the self catering chalets by the river which was beautiful and peaceful.  The food at the restaurant was amazing!  The dinners were true three course marvels!  Such a beautiful setting where we were able to hike and horseback ride while also doing the tour of the nearby village to experience some of Lesotho's interesting culture.  

Gorgeous lodge in breathtaking setting

Maliba is a very nice place to stay while visiting Lesotho. Its location in the mountains is stunning and the views from every angle are wonderful! We stayed in a Riverside Chalet that fit four adults and four children easily. The chalet was nice and comfortable but was lacking for self catering purposes. It has the basics but nothing extra (stock up on coffee if you dont want to make the trip to the lodge for your first morning cup) cleanliness was a 3.5 out of 5, nothing awful but cupboards are old and dusty and corners and small spaces are not well looked after. Overall we really enjoyed our stay the hiking that can be done right from the lodge is a major bonus.  Restaurant was a 3.5 out of 5, as service and food ranged from good to great depending on the meal.

Very nice place.

If you enjoy nature and outdoor pursuits and are looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Hikes, river swims and other paid activities abound. We stayed at the stone cottages next to the river and found them to be well appointed and comfortable.  They have a restaurant available at reception, but we did all our own catering.  Lovely braai area and indoor fire place, and the first bag of wood is free.  Just be sure to bring everything you need as you are very far from the closest town.

Far from the maddening crowd

We stayed in River lodge. 15 min walk from 5 star lodge with reception and restaurant. Power cuts and no generator . You have to pay for WiFi. Excursion to village expensive and bit strange. Nice location. 2 nights is more than enough

No 5 star accommodation

The Maliba river lodge is a very nice place to relax. It is very confortable and the personnel  is very pleasant. The food is very good and many activities are proposed to enjoy few days is this lodge.

Very nice place

Maliba lodge has a lovely location, it's wonderfully peaceful & staff are very friendly & helpful. We stayed in one of the river-side lodge houses, which was fiarly well equipped and very comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to have a few more wine glasses.

Lovely stay in beautiful spot

We loved Maliba, it was so serene and tranquil. However the rooms we slept in were a disappointment considering the rate. We slept in the rooms below the staff quarters, those rooms were apparently built to accommodate when part of the lodge burnt. The rooms are 100 rands more than River Lodge and yet the river lodge is better equipped . I was not told the rooms description before I booked, and what was more disappointing was that we could not be given a refund when we reported our displeasure.

I had a good stay at Maliba lodge and will definitely call again. The staff was very friendly and professional. The only issue was that there was no TV at the River lodges that we occupied and my kids were really not impressed with that. Otherwise all was perfect.
