It was a great experience loved the beach and the little Tikis were so cute and great to live in there was something special going on every day there like the “Way Out Wayne” band, the letmaid that came and swam with the kids and there was even a yoga lady that came and asked everyone if they wanted to do some yoga also there’s a little shop with souvenirs for u to buy

Mai Tiki is a tiki-themed resort right on the shore of Lake Huron consisting of a condo building with several units, and a dozen or so brightly painted cottages that accommodate four to eight guests each. I stayed in one of the small cottages, which sleeps four. There's no more room than you need - there's a small front room with a sofa sleeper, a small kitchen with a refrigerator, sink, microwave oven and a tiny four-burner gas stove. There's a postage-stamp-sized table (about 2 feet by 2 feet) attached to the wall with a couple stools. The bedroom has a double bed and the bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. (If you've ever stayed in a Microtel, you're familiar with the concept.) Where this property really shines is its proximity to Lake Huron. The sunrise is worth waking up for, and by midday the sun has gone behind the cottages so you can relax in the Adirondack chairs on your deck and read or relax in the shade. Each cottage comes with a picnic table with thatched umbrella and a Weber kettle grill. The cottages aren't air conditioned and have a small space heater, but windows on all sides allow lake breezes to flow through. There is fast secure wifi available throughout the property.

In season, there are activities for guests including a tiki bar, a bonfire in the evening, yard games and a deck right at the lakeshore. At night the cottages are illuminated with eave-line rope lights in different colors. 

There are a few caveats. Units have dishes and cookware but the guest is asked to wash the dishes and empty the trash before departing. A coffee maker is provided (Mr. Coffee) but bring your own coffee and filters. Citing Covid precautions, the resort doesn't provide bathroom towels or bed blankets (sheets are provided) so bring your own. The backsides of the units (where the bedroom is) face US-23, which can be busy at times and you'll hear traffic noises. Checkout is promptly at 10 am, and guests are charged if they stay late. And the property charges a 3.5 percent surcharge for credit card usage. 

The smallest cottages are fine for one or two people. Consider selecting a larger cottage if you have kids or a larger party.

The owners and staff are nice people with a sense of fun and a concern for guest satisfaction. Although this was my first stay, there is a base of guests who return year after year.

I cannot say enough great things about this resort! We have been staying here several times a summer for the last 12 years! Always clean and the best customer service always! Anything you need all you have to do is ask and the staff is more than happy to help! Walk straight out your door to the beach, the most spectacular sun rises you have ever seen. Our home away from home!

I have been driving past this place for so many years and have always wanted to stop and check it out. All the eye catching colors are relaxing somehow and drew me in every time so I finally had the opportunity to stay toward the end of May. This was an awesome place to go without having to fly somewhere tropical during this time and when you are on the beach side of the resort, you truely forget that you are still in Michigan. I had the most relaxing, enjoyable time. The cabins feel like home, relaxing and comfortable. The staff was amazing, they genuinely cared that we had a minor concern when we got there but it was a simple one (a dirty spoon behind a lamp) that was probably a child on the previous stay before ours but it was hidden good. Lol. The staff came down and rechecked everything right away and were very attentive. We figured out we were being picky at first, they helped us relax, staff was friendly and so down to earth. We had such a good time that we booked the following week and the week after that too, I've been home a week now and I'm having withdrawals. Nothing but good things to say here. I fully recommend checking this place out. I'll be back up again very soon!

We LOVE Mai Tiki and look forward to returning year after year! We have our yearly family reunion here and couldn't be happier. If you're coming here for luxury it's not for you, this is the place you go to unwind and disconnect from the world, think of it a little cottage in the woods, except you get the gorgeous view of Lake Huron and a sandy beach (HUGE PLUS).When we are here we are enjoying the great outdoors, so the indoors don't need to be perfect, they just need to give us a place to lay our head get a bite to eat and a quick shower. The staff is friendly and always available for anything you need, if you want to get away with a good view this is the place to go! Mai Tiki is the ultimate get-a-way beach resort on the east side! I have always gone to the West side, but was very pleased with the accommodations that they have to offer here at this tropical themed resort. I stayed in cottage 20 and was in awe of the amazing sunrise view. The unit was very clean, staff was friendly and always looking to put a smile on your face. Oscoda offered lots of outdoor activities and scenic routes. I was informed it only got better in the fall during the color change, and have already booked my weekend getaway for October this year. Looking forward to another great stay, see you all soon!

This is now my second time staying at Mai Tiki and I’ve loved every second of it. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to make sure guest needs are met, and to make it an enjoyable experience. They have plenty of activities to keep the family busy, from beach games, to movies on the beach for the kids and even a talented band to listen to. I stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage which was very spacious for the family. The view simply couldn’t get any better. Keep up the great work!

This is my second time staying here and still love the place. The people are great. Yes some of the cottage need some il dates but will always be my first pick for this area. Thank you for another great stay 

I’ve been to resorts in and out of this country and this is honestly one of the most accommodating, friendly, and beautiful places I’ve been to. They’re doing a wonderful job updating the cabins and condos, which must be hard since they’re almost always booked. The houses each have their own cutlery, plates/bowls, blankets and pillows, almost everything you need besides towels. Every day they have activies to participate in: yoga, movie night, they even have live music! It’s close to town, but not so too close. The resort is sprayed for bugs weekly and they keep it clean and garbage free. And I personally feel like the views are comparable to the islands. Mai tiki is perfect for families, couples, and friends or anyone else looking for a relaxing beach vacation!

My friends and I have stayed here twice in the late fall.  Such a beautiful beach!  The waves softly brush the sand all night.  Very peaceful and quiet in October.  We stayed in the condo and enjoyed the kitchen.  We even had a grill to use. We plan to be back again.

Great Stay!

I love Mai Tiki and the sister resort, Tiki Too, because they have charming exteriors and are in a great location.  
The resort is in Oscoda, but is a 15 minute drive to the Walmart and near restaurants, parks, and is located directly on the beach. 

While charming on the exterior, not all cabins are updated, so preview the pictures before booking if that is something you are concerned about.  Also, there are some items that you will have to supply yourself, like handsoap, dish soap, and paper towel.

Take a mattress topper with you, beds are firm. We were supposed to have an outdoor movie and never did. We did have a community bon fire that one of the guests started. We went to the main office twice and both times they were out.
