Lapoint Surfcamp Nicaragua - Los Clavos

Just got back from a two-week trip with my girlfriend and had an absolutely epic time! The camp itself was epic; super clean, a chilled but social environment, and a fun wave out front! We had a mix of hollow beach break waves and some mellower options. (Massive thanks to head coach Goncalo for looking after us). If you're looking to get fun waves and get better at surfing, this is a sick place to do it! Highly recommend :)

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent! The food was fantastic, and I enjoyed the breakfasts with fresh fruit, granola and scrambled egg with fresh coffee and banana bread. The rooms were clean and tidy, nice with fan and A/C

If you are looking for a wonderfully remote surf getaway look no further. I have been to other Lapoint camps and this may be my favorite. I did the surf guiding and we were able to check out some really nice beach break and take a boat to some awesome remote spots. The food has been fantastic, the staff is wonderful and attentive and overall just a great experience. Five stars for sure. Be aware you are off the beaten path so if you are looking to explore towns etc as well this is not the place. If you are looking to truly disconnect and surf and chill then you’ve found your spot.

Awesome experience from start to finish. The accommodations are super chill and comfortable, and the whole staff makes you feel right at home. Great for both beginner and advanced surfers—coaches are skilled and supportive. The food is delicious, the views are beautiful, no complaints ! Highly recommend.

Awesome waves, great coaches who give personal feedback. Did the intense pack with two sessions a day, so worth it! Really pushes you to become better. Also had some fun really extra activities, would recommend!! Great people, beautiful location, amazing food, and clean rooms!

Amazing place, amazing host.  Loved everything about Los Clavos.  Awesome place to hang out in hammocks and enjoy sunsets.  Cabanas are very comfortable.  Nearest surf beach is a short walk away. We loved it.

Wonderful surf camp in a quiet part of Northern Nicaragua.  Claire and Romain made the entire trip easy and low stress.  Reservation process was simple with excellent communication.  The camp itself is perfectly situated overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a wave right out front and several other fun breaks within 10 - 45 minutes.  As intermediate surfers, Romain and the guides made sure we got to the best waves each day.  We surfed six different spots (nine total sessions) during our uninterrupted six days.  Always felt they were trying to give us the best possible experience (and they did!).  We will definitely remember the two days at La Punta!

Our room was clean, very comfortable and serviced every morning.  The common area is large with plenty of seating options to enjoy the sunset, a cocktail or two and meals.  The food was well prepared and very tasty.  

Staff was friendly and engaging.  The guests all fed off of the positive environment.

Finally, our entire stay was very well organized.  Transfers were on time, and the daily surf trips, yoga classes and meals were executed at exactly the times posted.  While some may find it a bit regimented for a surf trip, we found it as a sign of respect for their guests.  Plus, when there is surf and the truck is leaving @ 5:00 am to catch the right tide.....who wants to be late?!

My boyfriend and I booked last minute on our visit to Aposentillo, Nicaragua. 
Claire and Roman were very accommodating, providing an excellent stay for us, so good that we extended an EXTRA 5 DAYS.
The food was AMAZING, delicious and healthy and we never went hungry! 
The beach is a 5-10 minute walk to the surf every day, we sometimes got two surf sessions in a day. We even had our very own surf instructor accompany us each morning, my surfing improved a lot during our stay!
The pool was shaded and a great way to cool down during the day. 
Extremely clean room and general areas to “chill out” were cleaned daily.
Great company, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all eaten together which was a nice way of socializing with everyone, but then the rest of the day could be spent reading, sleeping or just enjoying your own company!
10/10 would recommend.


Upon returning home to Canada the customs agent asked me what I had to declare. I said “...only my mad surfing skills...”.

If you want to relax, make good friends, eat good food and surf every day, look no further. What sets Los Clavos apart from other places is Claire and Roman, their warmth and hospitality. They cater to individuals and smaller groups and make sure you are achieving your goals. 

I personally liked that their approach was understated and comfortable without trying to be opulent. This made me and the other guests feel at home. The facilities were clean and the food was excellent... they even catered to my crazy keto diet. I cannot recommend Los Clavos too highly and look forward to returning soon!

We stayed about two weeks in los clavos with Claire and Romain and had such a good time there. We enjoyed the surf, with beautiful waves and sets, either right in front of the house or at any other spot there. The food the girls prepared was delicious with great variety. I totally recommend any fish, lobster or whatever their neighbor caught in the water. So fresh! Claire and Romain are very good hosts, helping you at the camp or in the water :P

Beautiful stay at los clavos!

Roman was really accommodating and gave us such a great local experience. I know the camp is really used to getting many beginners. However, Roman made a great effort to get us to the spots we wanted to experience and often surfed with us. The food was fantastic, can't say that enough. It honestly felt like home for the 9 days I was there with a friend. The surfing around there is very uncrowded and often we found our own spot to ourselves.

Peaceful Place & very accommodating staff!

Just back from our third trip to Los Clavos in three years. My partner and I keep returning because of the warm welcome from Claire and Romain, delicious food prepared by local cooks, the beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean and of course, the fun and challenging surf at Nahualapa Beach. This year I used a large surfboard that made it so much easier to stand up and stay up. Claire took me out in the green waves and told me when to start paddling. There’s nothing quite like catching a ride with a wave. 
Most of all  I love the peace and camaraderie at Los Clavos, a much needed refuge from the busyness of our usual lives. There’s nothing quite like resting in a hammock with a beer and watching the waves, the clouds, time slipping by ....content. I’m going to try to learn a little Spanish for our next trip in one year.

Coming back a third time

Just came back from a week of surfing and yoga at Los Clavos. Getting there took some time was super easy. I was picked up at the airport by a driver and dropped off a week later. The country is calm - nothing to see or hear of the upheaval that disturbed the capital last year (but apparently never touched the region where Los Clavos is located). The camp is nicely situated right at at the ocean, so you always have an ocean breeze and hear the soothing sound of the waves. The camp and surrounding area feels very safe, too. People in and out of the camp are very friendly. The food was good, the atmosphere wonderfully cordial and hospitable. The owners Romaine and Claire did a lovely job making me feel welcome. I had a great time learning to surf (my first time), doing daily yoga (both with friendly and competent instructors who spoke English and French) and lounging in the hammock. WiFi was adequate. There is a pretty beach nearby for walking. I also had a nice massage and fun boat excursion included. Overall, I loved my stay at Los Clavos.
