All the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The restaurant is excellent and we had some superb meals.

Nice accomodaties, Nice crew, great service.

We only stayed here one night but would definitely recommend it. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, excellent safe parking available (10€) and the room extremely spacious and comfortable. The bar and restaurant were equally welcoming and the food delicious

We stayed a week in the hotel and by the end were treated as old friends! The comfortable accommodation is not particularly cutting edge but has French charm, The  service is friendly. helpful and generally efficient, The hotel has an excellent location both in the charming town and for the amenities of the region. There is a very good restaurant (reviewed separately). There is nothing to criticise and we would certainly stay here again.

The most amazing food tonight. The food as always was of a high standard. Amuse Bouche was inspiring as always. We look forward to going back soon. Anne and Oliver are excellent hosts and very attentive.

Very pleasant stay, comfortable rooms, good restaurant and main building has bags of character.

The scond time we have stayed with Nathalie.  Place is great for families and couples, with a swimming pool and charmingly idiosyncratic mini golf course.  Rooms are clean and comfortable and Nathalie makes some of the best wine in the Beaujolais region.  Great views.


The location of Les Hauts de Montreuil couldn't be better - a couple of hundred yards from Montreuil's main square with all its bars and restaurants, and also close to steps up to the Ramparts. The hotel is spread out over several old buildings, and overall is very traditional and very French. Staff are all lovely. We had one terrific dinner in the restaurant, and would have had another but found  that it was booked out - so be warned, it's very popular. There is secure parking with an electric gate (10 Euros a night) but again make sure you book in advance. (If you're not worried about your car, there seems to be random free parking in the road behind the hotel.) The breakfast choice was superb, with everything from croissants to fresh orange juice to dates, and for those missing the full English, there were mini-sausages, bacon and omelette.  Everything was replenished as soon as it ran out, and for once there was as much butter as you could want (why is that some hotels treat butter as if it were caviar?) If I had one quibble it would be that our room was on the small side, and functional rather than luxurious. Also, as it was on the ground floor next to the road mentioned above, it meant that the window had to be closed at night - not a problem for us, but might have been during the recent heatwave. But overall, a great stay,  and would recommend. 

Stayed here at the end of May and again at the end of August. On both occasions we used it as a first stop on a journey to the south of France arriving there from Calais at around 4.30 pm. The hotel is ideally situated within Montreuil which is an attractive little town with a pleasant centre and a recommended walk around its old ramparts. The hotel is well managed, clean, and welcoming with private car parking if you want it and an excellent restaurant. We ate there both times we stayed and had very good meals. The staff are friendly and helpful and English is spoken if you need it. We were particularly impressed during our stay in August with the way the staff dealt with a very arrogant, self-obsessed English couple who seemed determined to make the lives of the restaurant staff a misery. They were, frankly, an embarrassment to themselves but also to the other English couples dining that evening. Madame was polite but firm and left them in no doubt as to the impact of their behaviour. We hope they were sufficiently chastised never to visit again. We, on the other hand, will always use it as our hotel and restaurant of choice when in that region. Highly recommended.

On a driving holiday, number one need is a secure car park. Which this hotel has. Then good food which this hotel has via its Le Patio restaurant. And of course, the room. Ours was in a separate block adjacent to the reception block. Very spacious and clean although toilet was quirky shall we say. But that is what you get if you want to stay in a period property in the centre of a lovely town. Would stay again.

Good first night stop in France when touring

The Logis Hotel Hauts de Montreuil is easy to find on the Main Street. The hotel’s private parking is at the back and accessed via the hotel courtyard once you’ve secured a gate zapper.

Our room (no 15) was smart and comfortable but I must say that the en-suite is very cramped and the space between the sink and the shower cubicle is so narrow that I doubt that a large person could comfortably sit on the toilet seat that’s positioned there. We were fine by the way although I did tend to bang my elbow on the sink while trying to reach the toilet roll on the shelf above me (there’s not enough room to fit a toilet roll holder).

The breakfast is served in a nice room and the buffet is very good, with the option of some scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as a pleasant change from the ubiquitous processed ham and cheese.

All in all this is a decent hotel in a convenient location and we would use it again.

Fully deserves its number one ranking in Montreuil

Very friendly staff and good experience here. The room was nice enough for the price, no frills but comfortable big bed and bathroom was spacious. The fan in the room was so helpful given the weather as well. Dog friendly, good location near shops and restaurants, and quiet over night. Tesla electric car charger was very useful. We only spent one night, but we would come back again.

Stayed here for two nights on a Half-Board basis.Large superior room(19) well equipped and plasantly decorated.Excellent bathroom with powerful shower.Had two very pleasant dinners in the sunny courtyard.Food of a high standard and service very slick by the lady proprietor (a human dynamo) and two very friendly waitresses.Excellent breakfast
Very good value for money.Highly recommended.

Excellent well run Hotel

Fabulous hotel. Very old building, brilliantly developed while retaining so many original features. Lots of different areas, inside and outside, all designed perfectly. Right in the middle of the high street, and 20m from the ramparts. Family run, and all of the staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely great, and very reasonably priced. We ate twice in the restaurant in the evenings, and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Secure parking. We thought it was just a perfect hotel, to be honest.

A great long weekend

Recently visited Montreuil and stayed at this hotel. I've stayed in several others over the years and this was the most enjoyable.
The staff were helpful and friendly at all times
The room was spotless and very well equipped
the breakfast is superb.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in this region

A great place to stay in Montreuil

Used here as a stop off on a driving tour.  Great place.  Helpful and friendly staff.  Clean rooms.  Excellent restaurant attached.  You need to book!!  It has a well deserved reputation in the area.
Would definitely stay here again.  And bonus for les anglais….this area of France seems to like us.  We rescued the village in the war!!  Thanks everyone.
