The Hotel seems to be fine but in the room we got:
- A thick tuft of hair lay on the floor in the bathroom.
- Knob of bath tap is broken, the weathered tarnish shows it has been like this for a long time.
- The shower head holder is so worn that the water pressure causes shower head to spin in all directions. Here, too, you can see signs of age.
- Towel holder hangs loose and crooked.

PLEASE NOTE !!! WIFI is only available in the main building. And only from breakfast until 22:00. Then the main building with reception, restaurant and bar closes. BUT that's also when ALL Wifi connections are disconnected. So early to bed then.

Here Another Serious problem occurs:
During the night, you constantly hear a heavy penetrating low humming sound, varying frequencies and it starts and stops about after 4 min, then a few minutes less and then it starts again. This seriously disturbs your sleep.

Next to this all: 

The staff are very sweet, welcoming and do a tremendous job of making the guest feel comfortable.
I seriously wonder what and when the manager actually does anything?!

Unhappy experiences

This is a review for the hotel not the restaurant. The restaurant was great!

The hotel however was very poor. There are rooms that look great, are nicer and have a balcony with a view. We didn't have those rooms. We got room 30 which was terrible. The view was of the clothes line and it didn't have a shower. A handheld shower 3 feet off the ground without a screen doesn't constitute a shower. The room was cold with the heater having to be on given the gaping gaps around the windows and doors. the unsprung mattress was terrible. Value wise, there was no value. Note no fridge in the the room either. And no parking.

Not the hotels fault, but the local 
 town drunks make a lot of noise late at night and  early in the morning. Stay away from the main street so you  can get some good rest.

Poor value, no shower, noisy and expensive.

The rooms are not well equipped. You will not find internet nor a fridge. For the WiFi you will have to be in the restaurant of the hotel. You will be able to hear everything people are saying on the noisiest street of Hell-Bourg. Too expensive for a simple location.

Not well equipped but nice location

Getting to Hell-Bourg is already a bit of an adventure on the small and winding road. The village has that nice remote feel to it.

Check-in went smooth, the receptionist gave us a warm welcome. The room was simple but clean. Don't expect things like wifi.

Waking up in the morning, the mountain view was stunning! We got great advice on which hike to take. We hiked to Belouve which we found quite tough but amazing. Start early because after 11 in the morning there probably will be clouds disguising the mountains.

Breakfast was good and we liked the dinner.

Although you should not expect a lot of luxury at this hotel, we definitely recommend it because we loved the experience.

Simple hotel, great experience

Nice hotel in Creole house. Very central and great service. Good choice for spending a few days in the city for hiking and excursions around. Breakfast was good. Very clean and uncomplicated, very helpful staff 

Stay in nice in creole house

Hotel with small clean rooms motel style. Well located for hikers. Do not expect too much.
Spacious bathroom but the shower has only a trickle of water running from warm to cold and back.
Friendly staff. French style Breakfast with very limited choice.
Most disturbing is the bad smell from malfunctioning sewer hanging constantly around the patio next to the restaurant

Ok Hotel for hikers

We were really pleased of our stay at relais des cimes. Room are great space and super clean, hotel staff is really nice and food is absolutely excellent.
Located in the center it is very convenient for hiking.
We loved it and we will be back.

A wonderful experience

This is a rather old hotel that looks rather unkempt from outside but the rooms are fairly spacious and clean. The room needed an air conditioner as it was very hot. The staff is one of very few places in Réunion that spoke English which was good! The breakfast was pleasant with bread and pastries and a few other items to choose from. There are some really nice walks close to the hotel. The village is very small with some local shops and a museum. The views of the mountains are better from the paths near by. 

In the mountains

The hotel is in a great location for exploring the area. Very basic place, they do not speak a lot of English, but we still managed even though we do not speak French.

The restaurant is ok – it gets very busy at dinner time, but the food is tasty even though all the dishes are quite similar. The desserts are pre-made, so even though it says in the menu that it will take 15 minutes to make the mud/chocolate cake and the fried banana it arrived after 2 minutes.

We stayed for 2 nights and on the last morning there was no water – lots of the quests were running around trying to find some staff to ask for assistance since the reception was closed. It was difficult to get any information in English, but it seemed to be a problem all over the town. Luckily we had bought a lot of bottled water, so we could wash our faces etc. The hotel did nothing to help. I do not know if it happens often or if it was a one off, but it would have been a good service if hotel had checked if all quests had bottled water or handed some out.

Ok hotel

We enjoyed our stay a lot, especially the small pool was very refreshing and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are very spacious, clean and nice. We did not use the restaurant or the spa. But we tasted the drinks by the pool ;-) they were nice
