Hôtel Le Colmar

This hotel has a spectacular location for someone traveling by train. It's an easy walk from the train station and easy to find from it. Things don't look so promising when you see that the reception is up a steep flight of stairs from the street. I didn't find an elevator either. What you first see of the hotel doesn't look very appealing. The friendly woman at the reception quickly gave me my room key. When I opened the door to my room, #6, I was delighted. The room has big windows that look out on the lively street scene below. Although a bit tight, the room was clean and comfortable. There's a fine sidwalk cafe on the street below and the lovely and interesting old section of Strasbourg is an easy stroll away. It's a terrific location for someone traveling by train who isn't carrying too much luggage. The hotel is also notably less expensive than other hotels in France. Given the outstanding location and how much I liked my room, I think the hotel is a real bargain among budget hotels.
