Le Château de mon Père

Gorgeous chateau in a tiny village- so quiet with lovely views of the garden and a superb atmosphere to enjoy a late afternoon drink on the lawn. The 15 year old daughter of the hosts gave us a delightful welcome (in good English) and her parents were charming too. Good breakfast and helpful directions to a nearby town for a meal and car wash. There is a kitchen to preoare one's own dinner and a fridge for storage.

The hosts couldn't have been more friendly, helpful or welcoming.  The chateau has been beautifully restored and felt so tranquil.  We slept wonderfully well although whether that was because of the peacful surroundings or the delicious (house) chamagne, who knows???  Would recommend a stay here very highly, especailly if paired with a visit to the new Camille Claudel museum in nearby Nogent-sue-Seine.

As we drove up to this stunning building we knew we were in for a treat. The chateaux is being lovingly restored to an inch of its life, although it is still a work in progress, what this lovely welcoming couple have done is pure perfection.  We sat outside on a moonlit night and ate some local produce that we had bought from the nearest town and drank a bottle of champagne from the owners vines, it was truly a night to remember. After a good nights sleep in an enormous bed, the breakfast was all set out for us in their private area which made us feel very much part of the place. This was most definitely one of the best value and enjoyable stays on our trip. Just to say their daughter was adorable too!

We stayed here for three nights while visiting surrounding areas and the Champagne houses. The chateau is placed in calm surroundings on the countryside and there are some nice small towns easily reachable. A 1h 20 min drive and you're in Eperney and a lot of champagne houses are also in a short driving distance. 
Rooms are very spacious with great bathrooms. The chateau itself is impressive and the owners are very nice and helpful in giving advices on where to go and what to see. If they shape up the common areas a bit to have somewhere to sit as a guest and also some tables and seats in the garden, and improved the breakfast then this place would definitely get a 5. 
Champagne houses near by (within 15 min drive) to visit are Collet René in Fontaine Denis- driven by three brothers who gladly welcomed us and sowed us around, and Jean-Philippe Vignier in Sandoy. There are also many other places around, so go there and discover yourself.

Nice place in calm surroundings


This rental is more rustic than how it looks in the pictures, with a farmhouse feel to it.

The chateau from the outside looked nice.

The main door opened to a hall with tables. It looked unkept. The house looked quite dark to me.

We decided not to stay in the castle  because it was way too rustic for my taste.

The property had a few neighbors on one side but it was mostly in the middle of a wide expanse of flatland. It was far from commercial stores.

This may appeal to people who would want to stay in a barn like type of a house and those who would like to spend quiet time.

The owner was nice. She politely apologized that the property did not meet our expectations.
