Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Went to Le Bambou with my family and we had the best time! Wonderful staff and service. The food was amazing and the rooms were clean and cozy. Loved hanging in the lobby by the fire with a cup of African tea every night! Definitely will be coming back again!

I stayed two nights in a beautiful lodge tucked behind a forest of bamboo. I had my own little cabin, which had a nice fireplace and every evening they heated my bed before I went to sleep. They even would take my shoes after every hike and wash them. The food was delicious, especially the buffet. I had an excellent stir fry and a delicious vegetable wrap. The location was very close to the starting point for the gorilla and golden monkey tours. You can also walk to the Ellen DeGeneres museum, which I did a few runs to and from. The lodge is very private. I look forward to visiting again.

My partner and I spent 4 nights at Le Bambou as our base while we experienced the incredible Gorilla and Golden Monkey trekking and Volcano Hiking. We were blown away by the attentiveness of Joel and the rest of his team- keeping the fire going for us every night, filling hot water bottles for us to keep the bed warm and spotlessly cleaning our (very!) muddied hiking boots each day in time for our next excursion. The meals were balanced, varied and tasty, always prepared with care 3x a day. We wish you all the best!

We had a very nice and comfortable stay at this lodge. The staff was extremely kind, food amazing and its location perfect. They even cleaned and dried our wet clothes and shoes after the trekking + put hot water “bottles” in out beds during the night. We would definitely recommend 

We absolutely loved our stay at Le Bambou.  Nothing was too much trouble for Ben, Frank, Charity and the rest of the staff.  They even cleaned our hiking boots and socks and laid them out ready each morning for our daily hikes. Meals were wholesome and delicious, ask the chef to make his banana fritters - yummy! Accommodation is basic but very clean and comfy. A special touch are the hot water bottles every night.  Location is excellent for the gorillas, golden monkeys, volcano hike and within walking distance of the Diane Fossey exhibition. We would love to visit again!

We was a couple and both of us were so excited being the first time in such a beautiful amazing place,the rooms were lovely warm cosy the fire place fire place kept us so warm and the hot water bottles were an added touch.The food and the service were exceptional,staff were amazing and so friendly,we was so close to the gorillas and we loved it¡

We had such a great stay. So relaxing and peaceful. Room was spacious and comfortable. The fireplace and hot water bottles in the bed were a great touch and made it feel so cozy. Staff were incredible and so accommodating. Would definitely recommend! 

Lovely accommodations set in a peaceful atmosphere among nature. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.  I came back from hiking one day and my boots and gaiters were a muddy mess. They took them and cleaned them for me and they looked brand new the next day when I got them back. They also built a fire for me in my room each night and provided hot water bottles.  I was never cold or uncomfortable and the rooms are very large and spacious. Location is very close to several attractions, including Volcanoes NP.

I visited numerous national parks in the great lakes regions, spending time in Uganda visiting bwindi national park. After my visit, I crossed the border into Rwanda and booked a room at Le bambou Gorilla Lodge. Overall I rated it 5 stars for its comforting vibe, superb food, great accommodations and value for my money♥️.
I recommend it.

We loved this place!!!! It really felt more authentic than some of the other places we stayed. I've read some other reviews and well, okay, yes, it is maybe a bit more dated... but that was okay with me!!! The staff was INSANELY wonderful and helpful and kind and courteous. It was very cold in the mornings and at night and so they'd have fires going in the lobby and would build a fire in your room at night and also put hot water bottles in the bed during turndown service. I loved that!!!! The room we had was GIGANTIC and very comfortable. The food was incredible and there was TONS of it. A dance/drum crew from the village also came and gave us a great welcome show, which was a huge surprise. When we came back from our gorilla trekking, CAKED in mud, the staff took our shoes and scrubbed them so clean they looked brand new! HA HA. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great place to stay for gorilla trekking.  The staff are super nice and thoughtful.  The food is great and delicious.  The room is clean and spacious.  Hotel provided two hot water bottles for each bed at night, although it turned out a little bit too warm.  😄. 

Before the day of gorilla trekking, the staff would ask you what you want for breakfast and if you want a to-go bag.  When we came to the lobby the next morning, the breakfast was already prepared for us.

Highly recommended this hotel!

Cozy stay with lovely staff

We stayed here two nights while visiting Volcanoes National Park, Gorillas and Golden Monkey visits. The staff were welcoming and the food was hearty. We loved all the soups and veggies the most! The room was comfortable and spacious, with a cozy fireplace for chilly nights. The hot water bottles kept us even toastier! We had a small issue with the water heater on one morning, but this was quickly resolved. The lodge provided gaiters and helped us put them on each day! They even cleaned our boots after the hikes. When we requested special items ( specific local beer) they went out and found it! When we mentioned we loved pumpkin soup, they made sure it was available! Plenty of water provided for drinking and hiking. Emmanuel arranged travel from Kigali and helped us navigate the registration process each day before the trek. He also helped us with the permit process ( where to go) before our arrival. We had a very pleasant stay and really appreciate the entire team’s efforts to help our stay be as memorable as possible! The internet wasn’t the strongest but worked near reception. Thanks again!

Cozy lodge with warm staff

We stayed at the Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for two nights. Our rooms, although dated were spacious, clean and comfortable. The rooms were spacious and had a fireplace. The room had a fridge which unfortunately did not work.
The Team was very friendly and made us feel really welcome. Chef James made hearty meals and the best potato chips! Emanuel, Janet and Davis were always ready to assist us. The staff even helped us out of our muddy boots after the Gorilla Trek and cleaned it for us.
We recommend the Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge and will definitely stay there again in future.
