Fantastic
101 reviewsWe found this B&B by chance looking for somewhere in Normandy as we cobbled together a vaguely responsible holiday in France in the brief window COVID gave us. Well - we got lucky and will come back. The place itself is charming - beautiful old buildings surrounded by the family menagerie of goats, chickens and geese, but the rooms themselves are snug, spotless and comfortable with everything you need. The welcome from the owners is friendly, there’s a lounge full of books, games and an honesty bar and loads of information to help you enjoy the local area. So far, so good. But the REAL high point is the food. A lovely breakfast is included, and it’s a notch above the usual French fare. Those chickens lay the most amazing eggs and you can have them every which way. There’s home made yoghurt too, as well as meats, cheeses etc. If you’re staying longer though do yourself a favour, stay in one night at least and book yourself an evening meal. For the full 3 course experience you ask the day before. Dinner is fairly priced, and I think cheap for the quality of cooking, and with wine included could be seen as a bargain. The cooking is quite classic and of the ‘handful of ingredients cooked perfectly’ variety. The menu varies I understand, and you get what there is but as I managed to score both one of the nicest fillets of sea bass AND the best cooked duck I’ve ever eaten in one meal I doubt you’d be disappointed. A great find. Glad we didn’t resort to the usual Ibis or similar chain hotel. We’ll be back as soon as we’re allowed...
