La Vallee Blanche Bikehotel 

Take most of the reviews with a unhealthily large pinch of salt- they are written by fussy children. La Vallee Blanche is spot on! Manager Tom and his whole team are fantastic, they couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is delicious, home cooked and healthy, there was a hearty main meal with a good selection of sides, salads and accompaniments. I had read reviews saying that the portions were small, this is not the case, they put as much food as requested on the plate and if that ran out they cooked up some more. Their skis, boots and helmets were in great condition and seemed really good quality. Any problems with equipment eg. Sizing were resolved quickly as they have everything stored in the ski tech room in the basement. They are very experienced at dealing with school groups so it is all very efficient. The rooms are basic but clean and functional, many, (may be all) of them with stunning balcony views. Lots to keep kids entertained in the evenings, including pool, table tennis, fussball and cinema and discotheque. Great selection of music is played on the jukebox in the social area. Location is fantastic, 5 mins walk up the hill to the village centre, 5 mins walk in ski boots and carrying skis down to the lift to take you up to the main ski school area- reckon it would be two minutes walk in normal shoes. All in all a super well run outfit- who really know their stuff and really care about everyone having a great time. Then there is Alpe D’Huez as a resort, a crash and injury curtailed my skiing so didn’t explore as much as I would have liked, but what I saw I absolutely loved, beautiful snow, fantastic selection of runs to satisfy all abilities. I would heartily recommend and would love to return, they all made us feel really welcome and at home.
