This resort is well maintained and is in a great location.  The staff are very friendly and helpful. Maho beach is always fun to be at with the many jets landing and people watching by the airport.  The restaurant at the sister resort, La Plage, is always good and is in a great location nestled nest to the beach.  Fabulous resort and great place to hang your hat in St. Martin.

Great resort and a great location

Our family, ages 9 to 71, enjoyed this resort so very much.  It was clean and kept clean by a great staff.  We all enjoyed the view of the airplane landings and take offs, and were pleasantly surprised at the minimal noise when all the doors were closed.  The location is great with many restaurants and stores within walking distance,  The beach was beautiful and within easy walking distance also.  We hope to go back sometime.

Terrible resort for a welcoming first impression.  
The unit had a very musty smell and not until we got the de-humidifier working properly
the unit smelled.
Just an old, outdated unit that could be so much better.
Also, guests are required to pay $50 for one week of internet service.  Service which is weak much of the time and will only allow 2 devices used at a time.

La Terrase Resort in Maho village.

Our 7th time in SXM but the first staying in Maho; we normally stay in the Simpson Bay area but didn't see any room types we wanted. As we later found out it's because many hotels and restaurants are closed for vacation or renovation during mid to late September. 

I chose the La Terrasse resort for a few reasons. King bed; ocean facing with a balcony and view of the airport so I could watch planes coming in. The price was also good for the area. 

We arrived via Jet Blue out of JFK much earlier than check in so took a cab to the resort to check our bags. Surprise #1 our room was ready and we were able to check in right away. The property is located within walking distance of everything in Maho and we also walked to Mullet Beach about 15 minutes down the road. 

Our room was clean, comfortable with a surprisingly large balcony. The mattress was very hard and pillows well past it but that's a matter of personal opinion. The only issues were a dehumidifier that ran 24/7 and was fairly noisy (but without it it would have been unbearable I think) and a shower that needed a gasket on the door to keep the water from going on the bathroom floor. We didn't bother to tell the desk until check out because it wasn't that much of an issue. The rooms could use a refresh at some point soon but even without it's a great value. 

The pool was great and most of the time we had it to ourselves. The workout room was across the street in a sister resort so a bit of an inconvenience there, but again no big deal. 

The real heroes of our stay was the staff; a very special shout out to a few:
Varsha and Kalisha at the front desk, Chrisnel and Arnold at the pool and Ora in security watching out for us in front of the lobby. They were always willing to go the extra mile with a smile on their faces and should be commended by management. 

Overall if you are looking for a mid-priced stay in a great area I would 100% recommend La Terrasse.

Amazing hotel and reception staff

This hotel has the worst location imaginable. It is right next to the airport so all day long it is extremely loud and makes sitting at the pool unenjoyable. What is far worse however is what happens at night. There is a nightclub inside the hotel that is open from 7:30pm to 3AM. They blast music so loud that it physically shakes the room and it is not possible to sleep. Why any hotel would do this is completely beyond my understanding. Our shower also did not drain and so we had a 2 minute limit before it would overflow. The hotel was completely unhelpful about anything, refusing to move us to a different room or offer any kind of compensation. We left after 1 night and stayed at a $60 per night apartment in phillipsburg. While that was obviously not what we wanted to do there were not many options available and at least we were able to get a good night sleep at the apartment.

Outstanding staff and service. Nina and her staff go above and beyond to meet our needs and exceed our expectations. We have been staying with the RIC family for more than 20 years and look forward to it every year.

Recharge 2022

Had a great vacation at the Royal Islander La Terrasse! We've been coming to the island for 20+ years and stayed in many different locations, and for us this was by far the best! Our 2 bedroom suite had the perfect ocean view and we were able to watch the planes take off as if we were at "airport beach" yet close the sliding door and you heard nothing, The room was spacious, very clean and convenient to the beach and the activities in Maho. The staff was great and very helpful! Special thanks to Kalisha and Kimany at the front desk. They were the best! Not only did they take good care of us during our stay they both went over and above to accommodate us after we found out our American Airlines flight was canceled and we couldn't get out for a couple of days. We know that everyone's experience will be different however ours was great! We'll definitely be back! Looking for a place to stay...look no further!

Awesome Stay!

It was tough checking in as nobody told us that you need to go to the Royal Islander La Plage, the sister resort across the street, to check in.  There is underground parking for a fee.  Our Studio room had a nice deck and a great view of the airplanes landing and taking off, as well as a great ocean view.  There's a grocery store practically next door that has everything you need and you can walk to several restaurants. You don't need a car unless you plan to take day trips around the island.  The pool area and bar were very nice.  The resort seemed empty and we thought it was odd that there was no reception area there.  Otherwise, the location, unit and views/pool area were great.  I rated it a three because of the lack of a reception/greeting area, no restaurant on sight, (but plenty within walking distance) and the charge for parking.

Great Spot for Watching Planes

This is a great place to watch the planes arrive and depart for the St. Maarten airport.  The resort was not crowded.  It may have been the time of year (early December) .  Being adjacent to the airport, the rooms were quiet when the sliding doors were closed.
