Domaine De La Borie Grande

Domaine De La Borie Grande is truly stunning - an excellent find.  It's located close to the lovely village of Cordes sur Ciel, and the houses and grounds of La Borie Grande are beautifully situated.  Our group of family and friends occupied 10 of the available rooms, which all felt spacious, and there was plenty of additional facilities for people to chat in various rooms or spaces outside.  There are also a couple of swimming pools and a tennis court.

There are also excellent cooking facilities, dining and lounge rooms.  One of the lounges is equipped with a large screen and theatre sound facilities.

Tim is a very accommodating host who went to great lengths to help us make our 30th Wedding Anniversary to be a very special week.  This is an excellent and flexible venue for groups, family reunions, weddings or conferences.  We will definitely be back!

I have just returned from a week's painting holiday based at La Borie Grande. As this was a specially organised booking our group had the full  and sole use of the place and all the facilities, and we had full board. Our friendly hosts could not do enough  for us, and the food was amazing (Gillie is a superb chef). We were accommodated in the main manor house and also the rooms normally used for the Gites. The grounds are lovely and there is a nice (unheated) swimming pool for cooling off after a hard days activity. The studio facilities are very good and there are plans for another in another barn which is in the process of being converted. The rooms were almost all en suite and were large and beautifully presented. A truly wonderful place to stay, in a peaceful rural setting only 4km away from the medieval hill town of Corbes.

We had a very nice welcome, cold drinks after driving in the heat wave. Very nice room  (we had the suite so our son had separate room) with nice soap, soft towels. No fridge but you can ask for fresh drinks.

We played tennis before breakfast (heat-wave ;) ). We had our own equipment but they can lend you everything.
Good advice on trips in the region : we did Najac, Albi, Cordes, ...
You can sit in the salon and fine library.
The hosts made us feel a home.

Stayed at this luxury property for an all too short 2 nights and promised ourselves at least a week next time. The Tarn region has so much to offer and in our 2 days we managed to visit a couple of local towns to browse at our leisure and partake in local lunch menus, as well as a vineyard tour. La Borie Grande is too lovely to be out all day though and we found ourselves gravitating to the beautiful pool to cool down towards the end of the day that had started with an early morning game of tennis.
Breakfast of croissants, breads, cheeses, preserves, fresh fruits and yoghurt in the shade of the trees was incredibly peaceful.
La Borie Grande also hosts artist holidays, and I cannot imagine a better place for inspiration.

Super start on our holiday.

What a find!

Lovely setting. Pictures do it proud.But our room was so dark we needed a torch to use the bath unless the sun was shining through the tiny window. I think the cleaner could have done with one too! Bedroom dark too, and unseasonably cold when we arrived. Dining area cold too. The boiler was not working properly and those who had radiators found they didn't work. Overall our bedroom could have done with a hoover, the cloths covering bedside table were thick with dust and would have benefitted from a wash, under the bed no better. So not for someone with a dust allergy. 
Our holiday was described as Luxury, and although the trees, grande salon, library and tv room are fine,  overall it fell very far short of that description. The pool was unheated with loose tiles around the edge, there were no toiletries supplied apart from hand wash and body lotion and the main meal was two course one pot meals on the whole with very little provision for those who had flagged up dietary requirements.It seemed penny pinched. 
We were picked up and delivered to airport as advertised, but we were not told that there would be only one airport run, so that some of us had four to six hours to wait at the airport with baggage drop not open until until two hours before flight. 

Despite that we enjoyed the sun, scenery and pleasant companions, and made new friends but won't return to this set up.
