Our stay was absolutely perfect. Lovely guest rooms with air conditioning, nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. The food was delicious and offered a variety of rice, pasta, salads and fresh fish. You are never bored on this small, quiet island when we were not on the bikini beach relaxing and enjoying the home reefs snorkeling, we were out with the owners on dive and snorkeling trips.Everyone who worked there was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us, we were made to feel like we were the only people there. A truly memorable experience and we will be back again. Thank you. 

A must visit in the Maldives 

The hotel itself is okay. A silent aircon in the room, nice colours, a big bathroom, but beside from that, the room is pretty basic and with no personal touch.
The hotel is build with 4 rooms, some hammocks and an eating area, where the smiling and friendly chef (working migrant from Bangladesh) is serving tasty meals. Though the meals are well cooked, they get quite monotonous after a while, and you realise that you are on an island, where everything is imported, and most of the fish is exported...
Omadhoo island is a small island with around 1000 inhabitants. We visited Sri Lanka just before arriving in the Maldives and did not experience the same smiling and welcoming attitude here in the Maldives. The locals are not unfriendly, but definately more introvert. Women are dressed in black from top to toe staying mostly inside the houses. Men slowly driving around on the small island on bikes/motorbikes or reparing their boats. This is pretty much what you experiece of the local island life except for the muezzin calling for prayer 5 times a day at the neighboring mosque.
On the island it is not allowed for women to show their hips or shoulders - there is though a 50 meter strech on the beach where you can swim in a bikini.
As you probably allready know alcohol is prohibited here - so no sundowners here ;0).
We stayed 6 days and tried different things. Snorkeling on the house reef is free and definately recommendable. We saw among other things, reefshark, eagle ray, morray eels and loads of other colorful fishes. But sadly most of the corals are dead (bleached) and the colors have disappered into a graveyard-looking white. I know many tropical seas are affected, but why people in the Maldives don´t comment more on the dead corals their tourist industry is so dependent upon is strange.
The tours arranged by the hotel is of varying quality, but we recommend the manta ray tour (saw 4 beautiful mantas), though this tour is expensive. Do some price negotiations, preferably before you get on the island, because there is no competition on the island, so the hotel pretty much decides the prices.
Recommenadations for improvement:
- clean up the beaches. Some plastic is brought in with the sea, but the locals also leave garbage on the beach, which doesn´t make them very paradise-like
- make the locals feel part of the new tourist industri (restaurants, tours, shops, guides,etc)
- better english skills. The manager speaks reasonable english, but otherwise it is complicated talking to others at the hotel which led to several misunderstandings when we were arranging trips.
- the snorkel equipment, that the hotel kindly let you borrow should not be broken and mould-infested.
- in the Lonely Planet guide big game fishing is mentioned as an option. The captain prefers fishing with handline and is not geared up to serious big game fishing.

Room for improvement

Omadhoo has proven to be the ideal choice for our short visit to the Maldives: a small pretty island with a laid back atmosphere, a fabulous home reef and a beautiful sandy tongue.
At Kuri Inn we found a nicely decorated, spotless room, a shady patio where we had good breakfasts and buffet dinners and a sandy courtyard equipped with hammocks where we would rest lulled by the songs of numerous birds.
Heaven, in a word, without the fake luxury of a resort.
The owner was very kind and friendly and helped us to make the most of our two days on the island, arranging for us a great snorkeling excursion. 

At home in heaven

We spent 10 days in Kuri Inn and we felt welcomed and pampered by all the team, like in a family.
Since when we arrived the staff satisfied every request we had and they gave the extra mile to suprise us with special attentions everyday (preparing our meal late in the afternoon after we finished our diving classes, making special couvertures...).
The food was good (even spaghetti were amazing, real Italian way!) and the room very clean!

Kuri Inn is the best place to experience real Maldives, staying with the locals and learning their culture and traditions.

Our Maldivian Family!

Fantastic place, far better than the luxurious and unaffordable stuff you find in the Maldives. It was quite tricky to find the boat to the island but the locals in Male were very kind and showed me where to catch it. Important since there is only one a day!
Since it was low season I practically had the place for myself: a cook would prepare a lot of food for all meals and best of all, I had the tiny beach for myself! I did snorkelling in the coral reef around and it was just like swimming in an aquarium: sharks, turtles,rays, fish of all colours... And the locals were kind, they are used to tourists coming to the place.
The room was good enough and the internet sluggish, although I was happy enough with being able to chat with my wife. This is an island after all and ulyou don't want to waste time in Facebook :+)
Highly recommended. I loved the price,I hope they keep these affordable rates!
