Kristjanshavn

Kristjanshavn is located near to the harbour in Midvagur. It’s close to the airport and bus stop. Rooms are clean and warm. Owner is very helpful and gives you a lot of privacy. We didn’t rent any car as it was easy to travel by bus. I really recommend Kristjanshavn.

there are 3 small bulidings on the waterfront and each has 2 rooms. they are self contained and cossy. Kristjan met us on the first night and was brilliant. He allowed us to leave things until we came back a few days later and was a good host. 

the rooms have a sofa bed and a small kitchenette area with and show and toilet. for the price, i found it very good and we were even able to dry our walking boots at the end of the day. the faroes is not for the fancy so this was perfect.

This is one of the most affordable self-cooking apartments that we found on the Faroe Islands. The value for money rate here is great. Being located at the opposite side of the town and its main road, makes it an silent and restful place. During the evenings you might see fishers preparing their boats for a trip. Kristjan, the host, is a very laid back person full of good advice. The sleep couch in our room wasn't quite good, but the room itself is perfect.  

Midvagur is roughly between the airport and the subsea tunnel between Eysturoy and Vágar. Driving to the airport is approximately 10 minutes, the infamous Gasaladur waterfalls are 20 minutes away. The Vestmanna cliffs can be researched in 45 minutes. The lovely village of Saksun will take you about an hour. For a day trip to Mykines (with puffins!) is this a good base as well. It takes you about 15 minutes to reach the port where the ship (M/S Josup) departs. 

We recommend this place to anyone! 

The apartments are well conceived, they are nicely though sparsely decorated, they are not very big, but aren't tiny either, with just what you may need for organizing your stay: small kichenette, sort of living-room area next to beds and private though not big bathroom. If the weather allows, there is this common terrace with furniture and barbecue and even a small cascade. The area is pretty quiet and you see the sea. Kris proved to be a welcoming host eager to help. I really think it is a very affordable and reasonable option for those who want to be self-organized or save a bit not always eating out.
