Great views, great food. Interesting conversation with the owner, John. Lovely relaxing environment. Spacious and well lit rooms with a lake a stones throw away. Couldn’t ask for more. This place has it all for a quiet couples retreat or family holiday.

John is an extremely welcoming host, who takes his time and helped us with information about hotels and country to plan the rest of our trip. The food is delicious. Our room in the separate house next to the vineyard was beautiful. We were able to stay there with our dog. Unfortunately there were not many guests at the end of August, probably still due to Corona.

The hotel has its interesting history.
The owners, Ania and John Borrel, established it with attention to each details, with perfect taste. Each rooms will impress you with its authentic and will be very comfortable for your stay. 

Location of the lodge is amazing: just at the lake, surrounded by forest and grapes field.

The hotel is perfect for everyone and everyone finds attractions on his own taste: relax, activities, romantic, fine dining.

Fine-dining it is really something special here: menu is very special here, and you can try even some New Zealand dishes.
And with addition with wine from the best selection  of wine experts , as well as local vodka and grappa Kania.

The place is just is perfect choice to enjoy the beauty of Koszuby.

Visited again after a 4-year break and the płace is better than I rembered. If you need a quiet hide away to rest, enjoy really good food&wine of great variety, nature (excellent for biking, running or just wandering). The best between May and October, but also enjoyable with snow and frost. Add fabulous NZL/PL owners and friendly staff and you will conclude such place cannot be cheap. But worth every złoty on the bill. 30-40 min drive to Gdynia and Gdańsk, not far from the airport and A1 motorway.

Had a wonderful time here. Can't recommend it enough. Fantastic local food and wine and vodka! Serene lake and surrounding woods and gardens. Would love to have stayed longer, also met some lovely New Zealanders ( friends for life!) John was the most accomodating host as was his wife and staff. Bonus 🐈 

We have not been to Kania Lodge in nearly 15 years.  I needed a place to break free of work, internet, obligations.  I needed a place to relax and regroup with my older daughters who no longer live at home. Kania Lodge was the location.

The three room suite was ideal.  The meals were excellent, and we appreciated John and Ania’s warm hospitality.  Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order omelets and eggs were scrumptious.  Dinner is in a class of its own.  The women know how to cook!  I had beef one night and chicken the other.  Both were excellent.

The wine was perfect.  We tried white wines from South Africa and Italy, and red wines from Austria, Italy, and New Zealand.  All were wonderful.  The perfect day involved walking the grounds, visiting the lake, sitting in a chair and reading, and then relaxing with a glass of wine.

Kania Lodge is wonderful.  We missed the lodge and our visit recharged our batteries.  Thank you John, Ania, Daria, and the staff!

“Best wine in Kaszuby” claimed John (the owner) “because I am the only one crazy enough to grow grapes around here ha ha”. OK, wine is ok-ish but lake view, hospitality and Vestal vodka is fantastic! John also import wine, mainly from New Zealand where he’s from-and choice is really vast!

We just spent the weekend with our two boys (5 and 8) relaxing and enjoying the hospitality of John and his team. 
After arriving late on Friday it was a real treat to wake up to a stunning lake side location in the middle of one of Poland’s beautiful regions. 
Our rooms were clean, comfortable beds and with such a view we could have hidden there most of the weekend. However, the lounge area was so welcoming and outside space (though still cold, it’s April after all!) lush and green we spent the time  wandering the grounds with the kids, playing board games (brought from home) and reading books. 
The lodge is close to Kartuzy, so dinner there could always be an option but the food from the kitchen was so delicious we did not feel the need to venture out over the 2 days, perhaps the pull of the wine cellar also contributed to our happiness to not drive the car. 
The children were well catered for, smaller portions, or specific kids meals were available and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. 
Among others we tried, bean soup, chickpea soup, salmon with asparagus, vegetarian curry and stuffed chicken and home made cakes- my descriptions do not do the kitchen justice! 
We’ll be back! Thanks for a fabulous weekend. 

I’ve been wanting to visit this place for many years but never came around it until this August. The place needs a bit of updating but you can fell that the owners are really taking care of this place. The food and wi e is top notch with a small but a varied menu that I like. The wine list is long with good choices. What we found out after the couple of days that the owner has written a book about the history about this place which is really a recommended read.. should turn into a movie to explain how Poland worked in the 90s. I will be back and I can recommend this place.
