Howie's Homestay 

Howie's homestay is located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, offering a peaceful environment away from the city. Unique and heartwarming are the best terms to describe our experience of six-night stay in July. We originally want to stay in a international brand 5-star resort and incidentally found this unique mension. Water is a central theme in Howie’s architectural vision—gently flowing waterfalls, lotus ponds where koi swim gracefully, steaming hot springs, and crystal-clear infinity pools. Along one side of the lotus pond stand seven Lanna-style pavilions crafted from golden teakwood. Each pavilion serves as an independent space with its own function: living room, dining room, master bedroom, study, guest room, and more. We stayed at Teak Pavilion. It features an outdoor shower, sunken bathtub, and whirlpool. Glass walls and terraces open directly onto the garden, where blooming flowers, chirping birds, and lush greenery frame unobstructed views of the verdant mountain range in the distance. Room condition, space area, surrounding environments, heart warming house keeping service are excellent and way superior than any 5 star resort where we stayed in many countries. No other guests are around thus give you total privacy. You feel not away from home. Reclining on an outdoor lounger, surrounded by the sound of flowing water, cicadas and bird chirping, cool breezes, and the scent of greenery, one can quietly read a book—or simply lose oneself in the ever-shifting clouds and mist—immersed in the simple beauty of mountain seclusion. Not just spiritual, gourmet Thai food is the best I ever tasted in my past ten Thailand trips. Hostess Jerri not just made variety of conventional Thai dishes but also gave us details of food origin and history. By opening his private home, Howie hopes to meet kindred spirits and share stories of his travels around the world and his life in Chiang Mai.
