Beautiful location very peaceful. Staff are excellent very helpful. We stayed in the villa which is right on the beach. If you want a really relaxing holiday this is the place to be. The sea is really safe and very gradual for small children. Definitely come back thank you all.

Just back from an amazing 10 day break at the Zafira Hotel. It is our second trip and it didn’t disappoint! Staff are so friendly and helpful at breakfast and dinner and behind the bar, Helen greeted us every morning with menu choices and  Anastasia was so friendly and helpful even booked a restaurant table for us when we asked. Like everyone who comes to the hotel we were greeted by  local legend Jim who does everything he can to make everyone have a happy holiday! Rooms are cleaned daily and the whole place is spotless . We ate at the hotel some days and swapped to have lunch at the pool bar on others when we ate out at the many local tavernas. Dimitrius and Tara the owners were friendly and approachable and put on bingo a quiz night and an evening of music with a local singer who was really good. Big shout out to Matthew for his singing too !Beach is great loungers are free and we used to get there at 9-9.30 and would always get some loungers. The pool is great and cleaned daily. We took our our 2 teens and older son and they all loved it. Try local tavernas Vicky’s and Olga’s ( the greek night on a Friday is a must). Hired a boat with Thassos Explorer  and had an amazing day out.€90 for 4 hours plus €30 for fuel, well worth it and a really lovely way to see some of the island. Thassos is beautiful and we will be back ❤️🇬🇷

been there a few times but food is not good enough most times we changed for a bar snack at lunch and went out at night it needs to go back to bed and breakfast or self catering as most of the food is frozen chips

When I booked this hotel my expectations were not high, but I have to say this place is a little gem with the positives far outweighing the negatives.
First off, the positives: Our room, which faced out the back overlooking the olives trees was spotless and cleaned every day. The bed was comfy and our 17 yr old son said the sofa bed wasn't too bad either, there was a dressing table and plenty of wardrobe space with shelving for storage. We always had fresh towels every day and sheets were changed regularly. The cleaners work hard and deserve a pat on the back(and a tip🙂)for working in that heat. 
The breakfast is lovely with choices of pastries, toast, cereals, fruit juice(not fresh)coffee/tea, bacon,sausage,eggs mushroom, cold meat, fresh fruit and greek yogurt. Your dinner option is requested at breakfast by Helen, there are two meat options and a vegetarian option, sadly everything is served with chips, the option of rice or baked potatoes would be nice. The pizza served from the lunch menu is lovely and you do have the choice to change your dinner to a lunch should you wish to go out for dinner. 
The pool is cleaned every night and it's a lovely pool surrounded by a small covered area with tables and chairs and sun loungers with parasols. 
This place(I felt)could do so much more to keep patrons on site by having a small laundrette with a coffee machine, a vending machine and a small playground to keep little ones amused. 
A short 10min walk away is a shop that sells all your basic requirements, water, snacks coffee,tea,cigarettes, and the owners are lovely and friendly. The beach is literally steps away and there are sunbeds provided by Zafira,the water is lovely and clear and definitely swimmable. 
Would I come back again......most definitely. 

We stayed for two weeks as a family of four. Our two boys aged 10 and 12 had the best time.

We want to thank all the staff at the Zafira for their hardwork and friendliness.  From the people attending to the gardens, the maids, the cooks and bar staff/waiting.

Good to know:

Great breakfast - lots of choice
Lunch - Massive choice including Greek dishes
Dinner - 3 choices (which you give to Helen at Breakfast)

Evening meals were delicious, mainly Greek, home-cooked.  Examples, slow cooked Lamb or stuffed peppers/tomato.

Lovely pool with sunbeds and lots of seating. 
Stone throw to the beach - free sunbeds - sandy, crystal clear water.

Lovely bedrooms (with fridge, hairdryer) with a great terrace

Bar offers great choices and reasonable.

Entertainment on some nights. Live music on Fridays.

Tavernas locally within walking distance.

A huge supermarket 10 mins away or a smaller one close by.

Important:

Bring or buy sea shoes, as there are some sea urchins.

Buy lots of mosquito spray, plug, bracelet etc.

Overall, a great hotel and we have booked for next year!!!

Excellent last minute deal with Tui. Traditional Greek family run small hotel. Good clean room, although would have liked towels changed more frequently! Food was excellent, good choices for breakfast and home cooked evening meal. Menu choices to be made during breakfast for meal , all the traditional Greek dishes served. Friendly bar service and prices reasonable. Pool clean and beach with free sun beds. You need to take beach towels as no hire service. Thanks to the lovely Helen who was really helpful and informative about the area, buses and anything you need to know. There is a charge for air conditioning and safe ( like many hotels now !) A really relaxing place to unwind.  Some entertainment but overall a place to chill .

We have just returned from our first break as a family of 4 at Zafira and I just had to write a glowing review. From chatting to fellow guests, it became clear they have lots of repeat custom and there’s no guesses why - clean large rooms, lovely balconies, fantastic bathrooms, beautifully kept grounds and pool area backing on to its own beach where there are free sun beds. There’s also easy access to a separate beach bar for drinks and snacks - our toddler loved the hammocks there! Definitely take water shoes with you due to the urchins and anemones in the sea. Our 3yr old was stung by an anemone just above her ankle despite wearing water shoes! Luckily the local pharmacy sorted her out with some cream and it’s healing nicely.
Excellent buffet breakfast at the hotel - would be made even better with fresh fruit and fresh orange juice. There are 3 options to choose for dinner (you make your choice each morning at breakfast), one of which is always vegetarian. We were impressed with everything we had - I especially liked the vegetarian green bean stew in a tomato-based sauce and a memorable meal for our toddler was the BBQ with the lamb koftas! If you want to eat out in the evening they will happily let you swap your dinner for lunch from the pool bar - the club sandwiches were delicious! In addition, we loved the rooftop dining area with views out to sea and inland to the mountains. There are mosquitos everywhere this time of year so ensure you have a plug-in for the room and all the sprays and lotions you can carry! If you forget to pack them then the local pharmacy is well-stocked. Although not classed as a ‘family friendly’ hotel, we felt looked after with our 3yr old and 3 month old and the pool and beach was enough to keep our toddler occupied! The bus stop is a 10 min walk from the hotel on the main road and we would highly recommend the island’s bus service which for Greece was surprisingly on-time and efficient with modern air-conditioned coaches serving the whole island - fairly cheap too - however not very regular, and not in the evening; so be sure to check the timetable before travelling and ensure you can get back to the hotel as taxis are not cheap! We travelled from the hotel to Limenaria in the south by coach and also Thassos town, then hired a car for 2 days to see the mountain towns and less-accessible beaches around the island. We recommend a visit to Kastro, Panagea, Aliki beach and Glyfada beach. Highly recommend Auto union car hire company with the office found a short walk from the bus station in Thassos town. They will also drop off and collect the car from your hotel for a small fee.
Overall we had a lovely trip and we will recommend the hotel to friends and family.

We returned to Thassos for the third time this summer, ten years since we last visited & I’m very happy to say the island hasn’t changed much if at all. It’s such a lovely place to go on holiday with none of the usual touristy none traditional trappings of a lot of other holiday destinations..
We hadn’t stayed here before but The hotel Zafira is wonderful. It’s a traditional style, small family run Greek apart hotel. The rooms are kept lovely & clean & are a good size with nice balconies (ours was overlooking the olive groves & was very peaceful).
The food was great at breakfast, lunch & dinner. The roof terrace is a really nice place to eat & enjoy the views of the sea & the mainland in the distance.
The owners Demitri, his wife, son Mathew & all the staff (Olly, Yanni, F & Helen) were super friendly & very polite. They couldn’t do enough for you. Such a great chilled out place to relax! I would love to go back one day...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week holiday at the Hotel Zafira in Early September. The location of the hotel is superb. You are within yards of a sandy beach. The walk along the beach in either direction is enjoyable. The sea is super for swimming. On almost every day the sea was very calm and it was so easy to swim with the sea at a shallow depth. Added to that it was good to see occasional fishes and underwater vegetation through the very clear water.
We were very happy at the hotel. The room was basic, but quite sufficient for our needs. There was a balcony overlooking the swimming pool area. 
The food at the hotel was good. We enjoyed the choices at breakfast, and it was good to meet Helen every morning, who also gave some top tips.
Evening meals are ordered in the morning. There is a choice of 4 options, which are cooked for you. On most days, there was a Greek option, like lamb kleftiko or moussaka. We particularly enjoyed these options, and would hope that the hotel does concentrate on providing more "Greek" meals and desserts, rather than "euro" options!!
The eating area was superb. We enjoyed eating while looking out towards the sea and the coastline of mainland Greece. Food was also served by Olly in a friendly and efficient way.
The bar was good and Yannis and F were very friendly and provided a good service.
The local public transport was good.
In summary, a great holiday. It ticked many of the boxes which we look for on holiday. Will we be back?? Of course.

Lovely little set of self catering apartments in Thassos. Rooms were lovely, so much more modern than traditional Greek style, with a really powerful shower! Rooms were cleaned every day and all communal areas immaculate. Lots of returning visitors and you could see why. 

No issues getting beds around the pool, we did have trouble one very busy day at the beach but not an issue. For this year they have a restaurant on the beach, food was really lovely and large portions so good value for money. 

Only slight gripes were there needs to be more umbrellas that aren't broken round the pool and the BBQ night wasn't really worth it- we thought it would be a fresh BBQ but it was things cooked earlier in the day and then just put in hot trays the same as breakfast. Wasn't worth the money! 

Location wise, it said on the description a '10 min walk from the town Square'. I can confirm we walked 10 mins in every direction and there's no such thing 😂 . The location is quite remote, with only a few bars and tavernas nearby, none of which were spectacular. 

I had some issues with the transfer times as advertised by TUI, and a not great experience on an excursion, but these are nothing to do with the hotel, which was exceptional. If you're looking for a quiet holiday this is a brilliant choice.

Lovely gem of a find in quiet location

Small family hotel in a good position on the beach in a small bay.   Modern  Reception/Breakfast area with decent breakfast selection.  Well maintained gardens and pool area, with a few sunbeds, tables/chairs and fixed seating down a wall by the side of the pool area.   Plenty of sunbeds/umbrella's on the lovely sandy beach which are free to the hotel guests.  (beware of sea urchins in the sea!)
Restaurant overlooking the beach where we had lunch every day and some dinner at night.  Good food but very large portions,  so we ordered one portion and shared which was not a problem.   Very large portions seem to be given in all the local restaurants.  All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
For a quieter room book a garden view room which will be in the new modern block, where the rooms are larger as also has a sofa bed.  The "older" block of rooms overlooking the pool are slightly smaller with less storage but are due to be upgraded later in the year.  For some strange reason no soap or shower gel is provided, so take your own, not an issue about it, just as long as it is known.  The hairdryer is basic with no styling tool, so take your own as well.  Daily extra's are ; city room tax 3 euro, safe 2 euro, air con 8 euro, but this is worth it as can be very hot.  Ice cream on site seemed to be expensive at 4 euro.   This is a very quiet area on the island with only a few local restaurants so may not suit everyone.    Supermarket 10 mins away.  Thassos Town 15/20 mins by taxi & 20 euro charge each way.

Value for money and a "gem of a find"

We booked a last minute deal with TUI for half term week with our almost 9 year old and it was fabulous. Exceeded my expectations for the price we paid. Lovely family friendly hotel, rooms cleaned well and each day, comfy beds and pillows (better than a 4*star hotel where we stayed last year), pull out sofa bed for daughter and a small kitchenette. Only downside was the shower which was powerful but lack of a full shower screen meant it was more like a wet room. Cleaners did a good job of cleaning the floor each day though!

Clean pool area and bistro for breakfast. Some of the external areas could be kept tidier but we enjoyed seeing the cats/kittens in the pool table! Really friendly staff and Costas barman was fab. Early season so had 1 night entertainment during our stay. BBQ night was ok but food wasn’t the best. Breakfast food was fine albeit fairly limited choice- reflective of star rating of the hotel. That said, we often stay at 4/5* star hotels so we didn’t have particularly high expectations of food offer here.

Overall, I would recommend it as a good place to stay, great value for money, good location on the beach and close to various food options. Worth hiring a car to explore the island- Thassos was so lovely and green/ varied. Highly recommend visiting Kineria, Panagia and also Golden Beach. Boat trip hire was fab too. Would love to visit again

A little piece of paradise

Loved it !!! Food was really lovely .. big shout out to the chicken risotto ..so so flavoursome . we only had chips once when my husband ordered the lamb chops .. which were great btw .. I shared the chips to put with my massive slab of lasagne and salad ..  if you order something with chips news flash you,re gonna get chips .. it’s not rocket science . Such massive value for money especially as you can swap for lunch if wanted .. we only did this once as spoilt for choice on the evening meals and such a perfect view over the beach at mealtimes .  Met some lovely people who are probably still there as this small hotel has a great vibe .. there was a gripe and that was the ugly airport barrier around the pool . I feel this is a stupid tui health and safety issue .  Couldn’t work it out as other hotels did not have this and it never had this barrier in the past . It really was a barrier to the pool so we spent our time on the beach and a quick dip after .. the beach was perfect for us .. loved the views and sunset .. Arriba bar next door was crowded with families but was good watching the kids have fun jumping off the pier . Bill at the beach was great .. if anyone not staying at the hotel tried to grab a sun bed he very politely explained it was for Zafira guests only .. he also offered us any help if we neede any thing from the bar .. thought he deserves a mention . Room great 306 but was so sunny on balcony we didn’t use it to our usual potential ..  I think we now prefer shade rather than sun but that might not be everyone just us . Very clean and staff attentive so don’t know what that previous review is on about tbh .

Hidden gem

Fabulous Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week and we enjoyed our stay.  There were six of us including our two grandchildren aged 9 and 4.  It’s a small hotel and it’s not manically busy like a big hotel.   There aren’t many sun-beds around the pool and we struggled to get a sun-bed both on the beach and around the pool on our first full day there.  We had to resort to getting up early each morning to put towels on the beds to reserve them which we hated doing.

The children loved the pool but we were a little disappointed that were was no shaded play area for the children.

We stayed in the garden view rooms which were really quiet.  We hardly heard any noise from the Pool Bar.  The rooms were spacious and clean.  They were cleaned everyday but the towels and sheets were only changed once.  

The breakfast was ok. There was no fresh orange juice and it would have been nice to have more selection of fruit.  It would have also been nice to have mugs for tea/coffee instead of the little cups.  The evening meals were good but the choices are very limited.  Helen was very helpful and would ask us for our choices for the evening meal at breakfast.

One of the main issues for us as a family were the number of wasps and mosquitos.  We were all badly bitten by mosquitos despite using sprays, mosquito repellants etc.  It was also impossible to eat any meals around the pool or upstairs because of the wasps so we ate mainly in the dining room.

One of our main regrets was not hiring a car so that we could see more of the island.

Would we return to this hotel? Maybe
