Hotel Hubertus Zebegeny

I had the extreme pleasure of staying here on a recent family trip back to Hungary in July. We were a large group (5 adults, 1 senior, 2 toddlers) and the hosts (Gabriella and Leslie) were the absolute model of Five-Star professionalism. This is a small hotel in a small village setting, but the hotel offers every comfort you would expect from a larger hotel. The service the owners provide really makes this feel like you are staying in a much more expensive establishment. The rooms we stayed in were clean, very well kept, and the views from the front rooms are especially breathtaking. The hosts/owners really out-do themselves with the food offerings. Every morning there was a complimentary breakfast, completely homemade and prepared from scratch. We stayed for a couple of days / nights and every morning it was something a little bit different and absolutely delicious. The amount of food was perfect to get your morning started to spend the rest of the day sightseeing and hiking in the area. The offerings on the dinner menu are also delicious and I would like to echo the other reviews on this site that state that this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. There are trains that pass in front of the hotel, however although they can be a bit loud at times, our group got used it very quickly and it didn't bother us. The kids loved the trains, so if you have small children travelling with you this would be a plus for them. The staff at Hotel Hubertus Zebegeny do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They are friendly, welcoming, and go above and beyond what you might expect from a little village hotel / restaurant. My father and I were celebrating our birthdays during our stay here, and the staff went out of their way to make the event extra special. The food is absolutely amazing, and the service and care the owners and staff put into this place makes it the magical place it is. As the owner is a hunter, there is definitely a rustic feel to the decor, with many of the hunting trophies on display. The area has much to offer in terms of sightseeing and hiking trails, and the village of Zebegeny is very quaint. Life in this village is definitely at a slower pace than the bigger cities like Budapest, so if you allow yourself to relax and get wrapped up in the mystique of the area, you will definitely have an amazing time. We would absolutely stay here again.
