Our first visit to Michaelerhof was 20 years ago and since then we have been returning many times. The reason is simple, you won't find a better experience anywhere else. Petra Schiestl and her family deliver beyond expectations every time. The scenery, the food, the hotel is great and the service is extraordinary.

Drove past this place, stopped, reversed, took a few moments to absorb the beauty of this "guesthouse", enquired within and ended up spending the night. We were a party of 3, a couple and a single, and the rooms were clean, welcoming and reasonably priced. The staff (Karen mainly) were friendly, helpful and dressed traditionally. The walks and views around this establishment were wonderful. The restaurant closed early in the evening but there is a selection of other places to eat nearby. Would love to return here in any season. Well done, Michaelerhof. 

If I had known ahead of time what a great place this is to stay I would have spent an additional one or two day here. Everything was great. Petra Schiestl, the owner, was extremely pleasant, friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable. We arrived just before closing of the dining room for dinner, but she kept it open while we ate. The wood carvings in every room of the B&B are outstanding - done by local craftsmen. The wood carving at botton of the steps is exceptional. The dinner was great and the breakfast in the morning was exceptional. The scenery and views from the B&B and our room are outstanding. The B&B sits up a winding mountain road but once you get there it is outstanding. This is a good place to stay while you visit Innsbruck, Wattens (Swarovski factory), Igls, hall in Tirol, Schwaz etc. A great place and one I will return to and spend more time in the area.

20 minutes away from Innsbruck (highway exit Wattens), we found out this very charming hostel.
It is also near the middle age city Hall in Tyrol and near the cristal exhibition centre of Swarovski.
After long hours visiting cities around, it is really a pleasure to come back to the hotel, located above the valley with a lovely garden and terrasse.
Our room was located on the 1st floor, above the terrasse, with a balcony to the South.
The room was really big, with a separate toilet, a living room with LCD TV and a desk then the doublebed and finally the bathroom. Price was 90 euros the night.
The breakfast was very nice with all sorts of hams and cheese, plus homemade marmelades and different sorts of fruits and viennoiseries.
The coffee was good and I am quite picky so trust me!
If you want to eat in the evening, there is also a restaurant in the hotel.
But be aware that the deadline to order the meals is 5.30pm and it is closed at 7pm.
Usually we were having huge breakfast then went walking all day so the dinner was very much appreciated. The cook is sensational. She is a true cordon bleu and we enjoyed our 3 dinners with different meals (fish, cordon bleu, weiner schnitzel and tasteful pasteries).
Cherry on the cake: the service.
Petra leads this hotel with professionalism and I was happy to exchange few words in french.
Iveta served us during the 3 dinners. She was really helpful, giving advice on the meals and typical preparations from Tyrol.
The last day, we noted that the GPS in our car was missing the Slovenia map, our next destination.
Iveta gave us some maps of this country and as she is from Slovakia and she knew we would also visit Bratislava, she gave us good tips for this town.
To summarize, it was a real pleasure to stay at this place, your turn to discover it!

This is a great family owned hotel with charming rooms and friendly hosts. Having travelled a lot and normally staying in 5* hotels i must say this one has overcome my expectations in every possible way. They really have a very nice atmosphere in there.

The only downside is the location - although quite and beautiful it's quite far away from any skiing resorts (Kitzbuhel is app. 1h 15m drive; closest - 40m drive).
