Awesome, recently renovated rooms with nice flooring, new mattresses, new paint, beautiful bathrooms (which approach US standards except for the Cool hot water). Very friendly staff--called me by name, fist bumped me, helpful. Good breakfast.

We were lucky as we had a last minute cancellation, and needed to find an emergency solution. Patricia found us 7 rooms that saved us in Coban. Clean rooms and bathrooms (including common facilities). Good breakfast service, and amazing plum cake.

Good hotel

We are a couple from Slovakia. We spent 5 nights in this hotel. We rate it as the best accommodation in Guatemala during our trip. Esteban was extremely helpful from the beginning to the end of our stay.  He helped with problem with our lost luggage and also he managed for us car with driver and willingly dealt with all our requirements during our stay in the hotel. 
We rate the accommodation max. positive. It is a clean hotel with pleasant, kind, reliable and helpful staff in the center of Coban that we recommend to any traveler visiting Coban and not just for one night.

Great accommodation in the centre of Coban

We were at Coban to go to Semuch Champey. We had an awesome stay at Don Juan Matalbatz. Its easily accessible , close to markets and restaurants. Esteban ( owner) right from the start was always connected with me on WhatsApp and made sure our stay was comfortable. Service was so personalised I must say. A special thanks to Lionel, he made sure we had a comfortable stay and all our requests were met to the fullest. The roo s are good, clean. Its good for a cosy stay. Food at the hotel is amazing and delicious. We enjoyed the Guatemalan delicacies. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Esteban is further improvising the ambience. It's definitely a place you can choose to stay during your visit to Coban.

Our Stay at Don Juan Matalbatz Hotel Coban

A fantastic hotel in the centre of Coban! Great atmosphere and the team of people who work in the reception and kitchen is just fantastic! The internet connection is phenomenal for those who work online. There are routers all over the place and you can work in a specially-designated conference room which is still under construction. The speed of the internet is about 80mbps. Highly recommended!

A great place to stay

A little hard to find. Tucked in from the main street through the city. Staff was very welcoming. Place was quiet except for the regular street noise. Room was clean and comfortable. You have to ask for them to turn on the hot water. The breakfast was delicious and servings are large.

Cozy and clean

We spent 2 nights with my family. The entire staff was attentive, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located in a quite busy commercial street (Mini-stores, pharmacy, etc.) in downtown Coban.  The Hotel sign is small, we missed it once by passing by it.
Recommend: get the rooms that don’t fase the street.  We did and had no noise and slept well.
The hotel is conveniently located 2-3 blocks away from a supermarket (Big mall); and also within walking distance from truly tasty restaurants.

The inclusive breakfasts are great delicious portions (Kitchen staff always with a smile to greet you and very helpful when customizing my kids breakfast).  
Rooms are spacey, super clean and knit. From beds, sheets, showers and toilette.
They only provide a small soap and Shampoo blister (willing to hand you an extra if needed).
Towels could benefit from an upgrade (we brought our own).

They were remodeling, which would’ve been nice to know in advance (We found out as we arrived). Nonetheless, our stay was not affected by this. No sleeping or dust worries. We spent much of the day outdoors/sightseeing).

Did not have a chance to try their lunch or dinner options.
We definitely will come back to this hotel when coming back to Coban.

Knit, centric Boutique hotel

Had a pleasant stay for one night in Cobán at Don Juan Matalbatz Hotel. The rooms are clean and the showers are hot. The staff is very friendly and helpful.  It’s located in a central location near the fruit and vegetable market which is a very lively place. Many things to see there. The breakfast is superb. I loved it.

Great Choice if you stay in Coban.

We stayed three days and asked for usual and unusual services. On our request we got a tour on a coffee and cardamom farm organized, a tour to Seymuc Champey, and a transport to Guatemala City. All tours were organized well taking special wishes into account and at low cost. Breakfast was nice or replaced with lunch pack - always too much food and drink available. Mr. Esteban was always caring. Some minor problems like market noise in the morning and WiFi connection issues in the room were unimportant, as we felt comfortable there. He also provided urgently needed pdf print-outs and did not want to accept a tip for it. 

Incredibly Kind And Helpful Staff

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, very comfortable firm beds, the staff were so nice, checking in to see if my husband was feeling better after being sick and sleeping for an entire day, and even brought us a thank you note and a box of chocolates our first night. one highlight for me was THEY PROVIDE A BATHMAT. 😂 silly, I know, but it made me so happy. Just around the corner from lots of little tiendas, fruit stands, pharmacy, very convenient. Decent WiFi, reasonably quiet (until around 630am, some people on the street were kind of loud but that is out of the hotel’s control).
I think the best part is BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED. made to order from the menu, you can choose from simple fruit and toast and jam, to a typical tortilla/rice/beans/eggs, omelettes, and more. 
for lunch or dinner, definitely go eat at Xkape Kob’an, less than 10 minutes to walk there.
