Hotel Bos en Duinzicht

We had a great stay at this hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is great, close to city centre and bus stop in front of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, with a variety of bread, spreads and Dutch touches!

The location of this hotel is ideal: close to the ferry to the mainland, close to the beach and close to the center of Nes (supermarkets, stores, restaurants). The hotel also rents bikes. 

Breakfast is good, staff is friendly. The rooms are up-to-date and I liked the sunset on the balcony in the evening. Given the usual steep prices on the isle of Ameland, this hotel was reasonably prices. 

So all in all this is a pretty good hotel. Would recommend!

Stayed at Bos en Duinzicht for my cousin's wedding. On arrival the hotel looked a bit basic, however I also noted that everything was well maintained and clean. For the price paid (EUR138 for the two night minimum stay), it was very good value for money. The rooms we had (standard room) was basic but adorned with a comfortable bed and separate shower and bathtub. When I needed to iron my shirt, the friendly staff led us through the kitchen and out the back entrance to a separate laundry building where they allowed us to iron our clothes. On walking through the inner bowels of the hotel, I was still greeted with a warm smile from all the staff and a heartfelt 'hello'.

I slept very well on the bed (a simple but comfortable boxspring) and the shower was generally ok (toiletries provided are ok). Breakfast was wonderful. Don't expect a 5-star 40m long buffet but rather a hearty Dutch breakfast with a wonderful array of breads (sliced bread, soft and hard bread rolls, typical Friesian "sugar bread" and raisan bread). Also, the staff prepares an egg dish every day which in our case was a boiled egg one day and a very tasty omelette with bacon and cheese the other day. The hotel also encourages you to prepare sandwiches from the breakfast table as a lunchbox so you can take it along on your bike or horse or on foot when you explore the island.

This hotel is not for people wanting 5-star service, however I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take a trip to beautiful Ameland and explore the island and stay at a  (family-run?) hotel with VERY friendly staff and clean rooms.

I will definitely return!
