Lovely, peaceful back garden area. Friendly, efficient staff. Comfortable. Some wear and tear visible on carpet.

I stayed twice at this hotel over a short period. To say that it's past its sell by date would be an understatement. Large rooms with not very comfortable bed, old tatty uncomfortable furniture, and badly laid out aircon, shower, toilet, etc.  Azur may have been a location of splendour many decades ago, but that is no longer the case.

The redeeming factors of the hotel include, relatively friendly staff at reception, less so at the restaurant; a large airy dining area; gardens with a lawn; and quickaccess to shops and restaurants in Bastos. The food at the hotel was somewhat heavy and greasy.

The best that can be said is that the hotel is not anywhere as pricey as the rest of the city, where you seem to pay very high prices for shoddy hotels and even worse service.

Average for the area, cheaper than the rip-offs in Yaoundé

Hotel in strategic position. Unfortunately it doesn't receive maintenance from many many years. Maybe could be the best choice for business in Yaoundé, but it need maintenance. The staff are quick and nice. The rooms are large, the air conditioner work very well but the choise of tv channels is to low.The breakfast could be better.

All you Need!

This hotel was so much better than my first try in Yaounde that I might risk being over excited about a ordinary place. 

However, great to have a view of the garden, moskito netting on the windows, a functioning aircon that is not placed right at you in bed. The roms had snakk desks to work at. Light switch by your bed. 

However, the best are the friendly staff. All I met spoke English and not only French.

I booked this place despite the reviews here because of its convenient location in the Bastos neighborhood (an easily walkable area full of shopping and restaurants). The location and the lovely doorman are about all I could recommend about this hotel. 

The front desk lady was not very keen to help and tried to insist I hadn't paid when I already had. Evidently, the rate I booked included free breakfast, but I was never informed. The carpet throughout the hotel is incredibly stained and mildewed, and my room had a strong stench of old, mildewed carpet. Rooms do not have proper locks (no deadbolt, only a push button lock, which even I could have easily picked), which was a bit worrying in a big hotel. The bathroom did not seem to have been properly cleaned, and I found hairs that were not my own on the pillows, so I'm not entirely sure the sheets had been washed, either. Noise echoed down the halls, so I didn't sleep so well with others on my hall coming in and out at all hours.

There is no elevator, so the hotel is not suitable for those who are unable to climb stairs.

Way too expensive for what it was. Would not recommend.

Great location, crummy hotel

This hotel is really well situated in the Bastos neighborhood of Yaounde, which is filled with restaurants and shops within walking distance, along with many of the Cameroon's embassies and large NGOs. However, the hotel itself was pretty crummy. The carpet is all extremely worn and stained, especially in the rooms. Sheets had holes and I found hairs that were not my own on them. The first room they took me to was actually occupied by someone else. The doors do not have a deadbolt but rather a simple push button that even I could have easily broken into. The bathroom didn't seem like it had been fully cleaned.Certain staff, like the doorman, were really lovely, while others were loathe to help. They tried to make me pay for the room again at check-in even though I had paid through Expedia. My rate apparently included breakfast, but they failed to ever mention this to me until checkout.Overall, I will try to avoid this hotel in the future, although there aren't a ton of options in Bastos.

Good location, crummy hotel

Rather quiet place close to the heart of the city. Don't expect miracles from the kitchen end or comfort regardless of the room you choose. Old carpets and furniture, no wifi or water pressure in the shower. Once you agree with this, enjoy a simple dish by the quiet terrace overlooking an empty football field (or what looks like it) giving you a sense of perspective in an otherwise crowded centre.
