Hotel Astoria

Great hotel. Renovated recently.  Stunning view. Very close to the beach.  The stuff is friendly and polite. The rooms are clean. They have a big parking space around the hotel. Location is great, in the centre of Mamaia. Highly recommend. 

I have booked a double room last minute. Due to the time of the booking there weren't to many hotels available for the weekend.
I booked Astoria hotel and wasn't expecting too much from it.
When arrived at 10:30 in the morning i was so pleasantly surprised to be offered the early check it with no trouble at all. We were travelling with a 5 years old child so the receptionist gave us a triple room with no supplement. 
The hotel is very nice and clean, just 30 m away from the beach, the staff is very helpful and smiling. 
The price we paid was 50 EUR per night (made it through booking but the reception price is the same.)
The only problem was the parking. They have only a few lots so it was a nightmare to find a parking spot closely to the hotel.
I really recommend this for a weekend getaway.

I ve been sleeping in Hotel Grand Astoria from Mamaia last week with my family. we have a room at 13 th level with sea view. The people from the hotel are very nice, good buffet breakfast, at lunch is ok, with a lot of sortiments of soup and meat, and also cokies. they have a kids area in the restaurant wich was very nice for my children (3 and 5).
Plus : is sea view rooms and remodelated furniture inside, the sea water is warm
Minus. is the clubs on the beach very close. Princess beach Club and TanTan Club, they are increaseing the music level very high until 6-7 am, all the night. 
So is no  relaxing area.
the beach chairs is between-6-25 euro/day depens what you want.

Unexpected good hotel

Great experience!

Hotel is renovated, with small but clean rooms. Tiny bathrooms but functional. My room had direct sea view and the high floor made it very quiet. Large parking lot. Pity about the area around the hotel which could be a paradise but is neglected, invaded by sand and weeds. Sun beds available at extra cost on the beach in front.

We spent there 5 days, 3 adults and 2 kids, we booked two rooms. Cleanliness is bad, when we arrived the bed sheets and towels were stained and dirty, the shower was broken, the AC was broken in one of the rooms, no liquid soap or disinfectants, no place to dry your wet towels or bathing suits, no hairdryer. The rooms and bathrooms are extremely small. They solved all problems indeed after I talked to the manager, but these things should not happen at all in a hotel, especially now with Covid 19. The breakfast is horrible, almost no choices and variety, very poor. Images attached show the stained and dirty bedsheets and towels and other problems.

Better to avoid

I think the managers of the hotel should visit other 3 stars hotels in Mamaia to learn how should be maintained a hotel: not to much changed from communism period. And supplementary in one night at 4:00 a.m. I have noticed the receptionist that an insect, most likely a bed bug (from what I checked on the internet), bitten me about 10 times and I asked her to notice in the morning to take the necessary measures. The message was not sent to the new receptionist, and new one told me very calm that the hotel is very clean :( and may be I brought the insect from outside. Unfortunately my phone is broken, but after repairing I will attach some pictures.

2 star hotel

We arrived here at 1am, having not made a booking and the staff were very accommodating. However, we were disappointed with the standard of the room and bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom didn’t seem very clean and the shower wasn’t great quality, as the bathroom flooded when it was used. Also, I was surprised that I was expected to make my own bed in a 3* hotel. The room decor was quite outdated and seemed very scruffy and although it had a balcony the views weren’t great. The only positive of this hotel is the location as it’s within walking distance of the beach. There are loads of hotels in Mamaia to choose from so I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. 

Should be a 2* hotel 

The price for this hotel was way above what I think it was worth.  This was a two star hotel in a central area of Mamaia.  The hotel was extremely dated, like an old communist style family hotel that hasn't been updated since.

I would not stay here again.

Decent location, but not recommended

A good choice. I stayed in this hotel a prolonged weekend, the rooms are clean, changed towels, daily cleaning, air conditioning. Very friendly staff. Good location to the beaches and to the resort center. Free parking.

Terrible and expensive experience:
- No elevators, 
- dirty room, 
- noisy cleaning personal in the morning,
- noisy refrigerator, 
- mold in bathroom, 
- dirty wardrobe,
- dirty chairs,
- dirty and mold in the balcony,
- a terrible smell in regrigerator.
