Our stay here was lovely. We used the hot tub both nights and enjoyed the breakfast each morning. We loved the view and thought the room was well layer out. Two items on our wishlist: kettles in the room (we love tea!), and the ability to turn out the patio lights. We found the patio lights bright even with the curtains closed and also made it hard to see the northern lights.

Amazing property! Our room was clean, comfortable, modern and  spacious. We had all of the amenities we needed and a wonderful breakfast as well. The views were beautiful. Only a few minutes from Egilsstadir for gas and groceries.

Rather than stay in Egilsstadir, stay a bit outside of it. Direct access to the lake and, not mentioned in their promos, their own small waterfall!! Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel 1001 is ideally located, offering a peaceful atmosphere complemented by exceptional staff. The services, from dinner to breakfast, exceeded expectations. The room was both comfortable and clean, contributing to a pleasant stay. I would recommend Hotel 1001 for anyone seeking a tranquil getaway that’s still conveniently close to the town, with beautiful mountain views.

Great place.  Dinner was excellent as was breakfast.  Rooms were very nice, modern and clean.  If you book a lake view room in the summer, the sun will be beating down on that room for most of the afternoon and by the time you check in, it will be nice and toasty.  Easy window and door open to air out, but it was quite toasty by American standards.  Also the path to the rooms is mulch so be prepared to carry your bags.  They probably offer assistance for this, but not needed for myself and wife.  Stay here, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a great stay at this hotel after a long drive from Vík. The property is beautiful and has about 25 rooms. Not a bad view from any room with the large windows that let in plenty of natural light, with blackout shades to block out the summer sun.The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to accommodate a request they don’t usually allow, which I deeply appreciated.I didn’t get a chance to use the hot tubs, but they seemed popular with other guests. The attached restaurant serves excellent food, it’s expensive, but worth it for a nice dinner. Just make sure to book a reservation in advance.Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of options and a great way to start the day. If you need groceries, there’s a store about five minutes away by car, but note that it closes very early.My only complaint is that there wasn’t an in-room coffee maker or cups, which felt like a miss for such a nice hotel.A few tips for future travelers:•The shower has no door, so adjust the showerhead before turning it on, or you’ll end up with water all over the bathroom floor.•There is no TV in the room, which I personally enjoyed because it made for a quiet and peaceful stay. Bring a book if you like evening entertainment.Overall, this is a comfortable and welcoming hotel, perfect for resting after long days of driving and exploring. I would definitely stay here again!

There was such an amazing view from our room but that comes at a lack of privacy. We had dinner there the first night and would have loved to have known the reindeer burger would be served rare, chef’s decision, I would have ordered differently if I had known. My partner loved it! Peaceful and beautiful.

Nestled in a stunning wilderness setting yet conveniently close to town, this location offers a perfect blend of nature and accessibility. The on-site restaurant’s prices are steep, though the included breakfast was exceptional and a highlight of the stay. The room was clean, but the hot tub was disappointingly dirty and unusable.  Would stay again.

Peaceful mountain stay

This is an amazing place for our one night stay. Great view, quiet and clean, delicious breakfast and dinner. The only drawback is the poor ventilation and lack of towel heating rack. The smoke alarm went off as i finished my shower since there is only one tiny window can be opened for ventilation. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting nestled in the woods a short drive from town overlooking the lake.  You can hear a waterfall from the outside of your room which is so relaxing.  The hot tubs are great, be sure to ask for your robes at the front desk so your towels stay dry. You can pick either a mountainside or lake view room.  Mountainside faces east and gets very direct morning sun.  There is a limited dinner menu at the hotel.  Breakfast is nice with fresh baked breads and don’t forget to ask for cooked to order omelets or eggs.  They are finishing out the hotel on the other side and almost doubling the size, but you cannot hear the construction noise. Would love to see them put in hiking trails and non-motorized sports as would be a huge plus.

We loved staying here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room had a great Mountain View. It’s one of the cutest hotels we’ve stayed in. I wish there was a drop box for keys, we left early in the morning but the lobby was locked so we couldn’t check out. We left our key in the room and called the hotel at 7 am to let them know. We had already prepaid so it wasn’t a big deal. Highly recommend this cute little getaway hotel.

Loved everything! From the delightful check in host, to the lovely check out host! Setting was gorgeous - lake on one side, mountains on the other. Room was modern and clean. Beds were comfortable. And most importantly, room was quiet! Even though there were abutting rooms, and the place was fully booked, we did not hear a thing. Breakfast was great. Convenient to town and amenities. And as mentioned before, the staff was just delightful. Can’t wait to stay here again!!
