Good
80 reviewsLocation was good, and the private enclosed parking was wonderful (it's right next door, but they have to manually come down and let you in, so park on the street right in front, if possible, and head upstairs). The door buzzer kind of daunted me to be let in to reception initially but subsequently I had a key for the front door. Nice old building, high ceilings. The private room was perfect, single bed with linens and pillow. Bed linens were fine, although pillow was kind of tiny and sparse (ridiculous gripe, but I did notice it, especially since the bedframe was metal). I was on the first floor, in an area separate from the reception area - it had two rooms and a bathroom, through which the kitchen was accessed (a little peculiar, but, old houses are strange). I wasn't sure, however, whether the kitchen serviced ALL of the rooms in the place or on the floor (and I have NO idea how many rooms/guests there were) so I showered as quickly as possible at a peculiar hour to try to minimize inconvenience to however many others were there. WiFi worked fine. Breakfast items were left in kitchen on windowsill and fridge; first morning I stayed, there were plenty of cold cuts/bread for toast/coffee/etc., but the second day I went in to find no bread, no coffee, and only a few slices of cheese in the fridge. There's a lovely bakery across the way, so I asked the front desk to replenish the coffee and popped out to grab a delightful pastry instead. (I think the two people staying in the room across from me plundered the breakfast pretty thoroughly.) Japanese restaurant downstairs was excellent; since I just chose something randomly from the menu (in Czech) I was pleasantly surprised with my breaded pork and rice. Overall good value and perfectly fine hostel; safe, clean, secure, pleasant. It would've been nice if the door to reception had been open/accessible; it looked like there was a nice little lounge with a balcony, books, computer, etc. but it was always closed (although they did answer the door); I felt awkward going and sitting in there since no one else was doing so.
