Great service and very relaxing environment. Thank you Paul (lovely owner)! Clean and comfortable atmosphere :) I would definitely recommend this place and especially because it is so central so easy to access all the nearby shops and go back and forth freely

1 Week Stay

We walked in. We walked out. The quality of the room caused us to turn tail and immediately find another hotel. We went to La Paz, which I highly recommend. Sure the price is good but there are plenty of other places that are much better and only a little more expensive. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

don't do it

my friends and I stayed for one night in San Marcos and booked in advance to stay at Hostel San Marcos because it seemed nice online. Upon arriving we were confused when the receptionist didn't seem to know what was going on and she also had no change and didn't accept credit cards. Our room, which was marketed online as a 5 person dorm, had 4 beds plus one mattress on the ground in the corner near a bunch of cobwebs. The room smelled musty and gave one of our group members an allergic reaction, not to mention the spider as large as the palm of my hand which was on the headboard. We left promptly and went to Hotel La Paz, which I highly recommend. The owner of this hostel also owns Restaurant Fe, which we actually really enjoyed, but it's unfortunate that this hostel gave such a terrible first impression.

SOS stay away

Don’t expect a luxury hostel. By an emergency I had to need here and in the end I was really pleased with it. A double room, was basic. Just separated beds and two electric plugs. Shower and toilet outside. Atmosphere is very easy, just like the whole place San Marcos. Breakfast is outside and is really nice. Coffee + eggs/pancakes/oatmeal. I could have stayed longer. Close to the boats and cliff where you can jump in the water. 

For the price, really good

We stayed only one-night in this hostel and just ran away.
Our standards are not very high: clean room, hot water in the bathroom, and if possible internet (which is now a kind of standard everywhere).
We reserved a room with en suite facilities, the room was everything but being clean, and there was no water at the toilets (no to mention hot water)!  Instead, we got a large bucket full of water (cold, of course) from which we were supposed to take water to flush the toilet and wash.
Internet does not come to the rooms and if you want to connect, you have to reach the sitting area at the entrance.
The attitude was reasonable, and although we had booked in advance for two nights, they gave up the extra night.
Breakfast is reasonable and served at a restaurant away from the hostel.
The only advantage is the proximity to the lake, but on the other hand, San Marcos is a small place and everything is close to the lake
