I was due to stay at the hostel with 12 friends in May 2020. I paid a deposit of ~€160. After the stay was cancelled due to Covid I was told by the hostel I would get my deposit back at the end of august 2020. 12 months later after our stay was cancelled I am still yet to receive my refunded. I have emailed multiple times with initially a response saying I would get my refund in the next few weeks, now they have just stopped replying to my emails.

June 2020 Stay Cancelled - Still No Refund!

I stayed here for 2 nights when visiting Bratislava and I wouldn't recommend this hostel. The location is quite far from the centre and all the places you would want to see. Also, the staff were not very friendly and there was no atmosphere in the hostel. I didn't feel very safe here either; the location had a lot of graffiti and you had to ring the buzzer to get back into the hostel every time you went out (no system for guests to let themselves in and it took several minutes sometimes to get back in). I would recommend staying in the old town instead where it's a lot nicer.

Wouldn't recommend

It was a clean and tidy hostel; the rooms we're spacious and the kitchen was well organised and there was enough space for your food. The location is very near the train station but some walk away from the old town however this was perfect for us. The beds were comfy and lockers with locks were provided and big enough for our 60l bags. The only downside was the blinds in our room (on the top floor) were completely pointless and let all the light in, meaning both days we all woke up at sunrise at 5:15am. It's a great hostel but doesnt provide a good nights sleep which is most of the point of a hostel. Would recommend to anyone who doesnt mind getting up at 5am but if you want to sleep until 7am or later dont bother. These photos were taken at 5:30am.

Cant sleep past sunrise 

Every year we go on an group vacation with 30-40 person from a student association. This year we we went to Bratislava and stayed in several rooms at the Brickyard Hostel. I think this is one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed at, rooms were cleaned multiple times during the week and the common areas were cleaned even more often. The staff was very friendly, rooms were spacious and the kitchen is exactly equipped enough to cook most kind of meals. There were enough keys for all persons in the room, which is always a plus if you’re with a big group that splits up a lot. Bratislava train station is a couple of minutes away and the Old Town is a nice walking distance as well (or you can take a bus or tram at one of the stops next to the hostel). For a hostel in this price range, I would say you can’t really do much better.

Group vacation

Had a really great stay! Nice clean rooms, friendly staff. Beds werent too bad either!
The city was beautiful too, not that big but still lots of fun things to do. I would definitely recommend Bratislava, and for a  good stay mear the city centre, check the brickyard hostel!

Geest!

Rooms were cleaned often, relaxed atmosphere, 24/7 reception... Everything was good. The beds were comfortable and there were fans available in the rooms to battle the heat. The kitchen is also big enough to cook in if you don't want to eat out all the time.

Great location, clean & relaxed

Stayed in a twin room with a friend. We had an en-suite but unfortunately the whole experience was quite unpleasant. The beds were dirty with marks on, the shower was cold and didn’t have a shower holder/stand part so you couldn’t actually stand under it - you had to hold it. The shower was cold and did not have any power at all. The blinds were broken and the walls were thin so you could hear the surrounding rooms very easily. I know that it’s a hostel and not a hotel but I would have appreciated warm water at least! The staff were friendly and kind - and I thank them for being so welcoming - but they couldn’t recommend anywhere for us to go in the rain... Nonetheless, that might just be because there isn’t a lot to do here (and I don’t mean that disrespectfully). I really am grateful to have had somewhere to stay in a good location but I was somewhat disappointed. 

One night stay

Great location close to the city center. Helpful staff, speaking perfect English. Clean room and bathroom. Bed could be more comfortable... WIFI was unfortunately deadly slow. Overall nice place to stay for a night or two.

Clean and in good location

Very good hostel nearby city center. Clean, really kind personal staff, big and comfortable rooms, and also big bathroom! Just two things to improve; wifi connection (sometimes doesn’t work) and the hot water in the showers (is just warm).

I absolutly recommend the hostel!! 


Very good hostel

We stayed only for one night. The staff was friendly but the hostel was not what we expected. It needs renovation, new linen and towels. The room wasn't clean enough and their was a spiderweb at the ceiling.
