Very nice staff, I arrived long before check-in time and they got my room ready within ten minutes though I didn’t even ask for it. 
The terrace is wonderful, the room and the whole place are cute. They cleaned every day. Excellent value for money. 

It felt like home. Even if I come back on a bigger budget, I’ll stay here again. 

Pension la Palma is the perfect base for a city break in Malaga. Location, facilities and transport links are excellent with spotless rooms, warm water and access to self-catering kitchen. Staff were especially considerate and helpful. Thank you

First of all, I rated La Palma as a hostal, not as a 4* hotel.
The location is great, between the Atarazana Market Hall and the Calle Marques de Larios (the main shopping street).  And a short walk to the Malaga Centro train station.
The hostal is located in a multi-use building, the reception is on the first floor, rooms are on the third and fourth floor.
We had a room on the thirtd floor with private bathroom; the tile work floor and the bathroom were cleaned every day.  We also had a small fridge in our room, but there are also fridges for general use + coffee/tea making facilities (free) on each floor.  On the fourth floor, there is also a small kitchen with microwave.  And of course the sun terrace.  Don't worry, if your room is on the third floor, you'll also get a key to the sun terrace one floor above.
The hostel doesn't serve breakfast, so you can either go in one of the bars around or prepare your own. Within 100 m, you'll find several bakeries, also the market hall is only footsteps away.
Is everything perfect?  No of course not, nut you're only paying for a hostel and not for 4* hotel.

I absolutely loved my single room in this place, the colours were so bright and warm, I could have comfortably lived there. It was just around the corner from one of the main shopping streets where they have the famous Christmas lights display. I could hear it from the room but thankfully the performances stop at 9.30pm. The bathrooms were very good clean, though it would be nice if the shower was attached to the wall rather than having to hold it on yourself. The kitchen had LOADS of space, which leads to pretty much my only complaint about this property - why have loads of food storage space when there is no oven/grill/hobs or even a toaster? The place had a lovely terrace so it seemed like a shame you couldn't cook your food and eat it outside. I was glad my stay was only three nights because I don't like eating out every single night, and I can't live on microwavable food (the only amenity in the kitchen for heating up food). For a short stay I would highly recommend.

Well positioned with all of the city centre within walking distance. Cathedral within arms length from hotel rooftop. 
Rooftop area amazing with tables limited sunbeds/deckchairs. Fab views market area.
Clean basic accommodation at a good price and very near the market and city center attractions.
Nice roof terrace for breakfast.
Great  to have small fridge in room
Close to Bus stop for Linea A from Airport ( get off at Alameda Principal stop)
 
No A/C, just floor standing fan.
Kitchenette had no cooking facilities besides a microwave and kettle, so even basic cooking had to be ruled out.. Very good of owner to provide tea/coffee and sugar.
Very close to Main market where you can get all produce fruit/veg/fish and meat and also has outdoor tables for market restaurants to serve fresh cooked fish.
Supermarket Sol almost opposite market.
Great lunch 3course with wine/beer for Euro 8.95--Los Peublos, opp market.
100 Montaditos close by for Euro 1 snacks and great Euro1 coffee
