Helpful and friendly hotel. Great stay :)

Clean and comfortable. Nice views very quiet and dining available on site.

Check in was prompt & straightforward, & we were greeted in a friendly and helpful and efficient way. Our room was sparse but functional, although facing the road it was noisy especially with trucks rolling by during the night. Breakfast was nicely presented and tasty. The dinner menu was limited but also tasty. For what we paid I might have expected a little more comfort but otherwise we were happy.

The snap was super friendly! We have to check in late and they are very accommodating. The room was super clean, and the bed was Comfortable! Breakfast was light but good! Definitely worth the stay! Would highly recommend! Also, the view is top-notch!

The hotel is right on the water with great views from the room and the dining room. They put us up in the presidential suite when we expected and paid for a simple room. I wish that we had been able to spend more time here.

The hotel has the best view of mountain and lake.

We loved this place! The check-in staff was welcoming and joyful, the decor charming and happy, room was 2 story and spacious with a balcony and INCREDIBLE views. Wow.  We had pizza for dinner on-site, and a nice breakfast included in the morning with cups of coffee to go for the road.  Only minor drawback was there was only handsoap available for washing in the shower. Still loved the stay and the charm of the place and staff overall.

Overall a fine stay

ROOMS: spacious room with two floors. Two bedrooms, bathroom with a shower, big common area with tables, sofa and kitchen. Many closets and seating places. There is a fridge in apartments, a tableware and glasses, different pans, coffee maker are also provided. But surprisingly our room had no kettle. There is a big balcony with a lake view! 
LOCATION: direct in front of the lake :) 5min drive to nearest Coop Prix store and to a gas station.
FOOD: good breakfast is included (6:30-9am). There are eggs, meat, patê and salmon, cheese, yogurt and corn flakes, some fruits. There is a restaurant which serves lunch and dinner (main dishes or pizza).
FACILITIES: wi-fi (excellent in a reception/restaurant zone, but connects after some time in the room), parking zone
STAFF: very welcoming, friendly and smiley.

Awesome view from the room on a lake

Amazing view from the room and balcony. The whole area is stunning. The room we got was like an apartment with a loft and kitchen with all equipment, including dishwasher.The restaurant had a basic menu with food that was totally OK. Pizza, nachos with chicken or minced meat etc. The breakfast buffet was acceptable.The staff was very friendly and helpful.All in all a great stay!

Amazing view

Continuing on our journey we stopped at Hordatun Hotel which is located at ski resort seemingly in the middle of nowhere.  This hidden gem of a hotel had a great cafe and the rooms were incredible.  We were in a massive room with a full kitchen and living room.  The bedroom was in an open loft.  The rooms looked out to the mountain side which was beautiful.

Hidden Gem!

Hordatun is in an incredible location and we’d highly recommend requesting a room at the front to watch the scenery from your balcony!The room we were in - 111 was well equiped if you were to book for a short or long stay. With a reasonably stocked kitchen, lots of space to hang gear and a comfortable couch to relax on.Whilst we found the room met our expectations the wonderful welcome and consistently attentiveness if front of house staff member Anne really made an impression. Such a lovely, happy, friendly host Anne gave the impression she’d do anything possible to make sure we had a great experience.The wifi was a bit hit and miss but whilst on holiday enjoying the view who cares!We ordered pizza for our late lunch early dinner and it was delicious!!Thanks Anne we will always remember your kindness when we think of our trip to Røldal.

Warm welcome exceeded expectations

Some of the previous reviews seem unnecessarely harsh to me. Yes, the apartments are privately owned, not all private owners have a high budget or much taste, so also the apartment we were assigned too was not nicely decorated, a bit empty, and had almost exclusively IKEA furniture and hardware. But, the apartment was clean, decent, spacious, comfortable, everything required was present, and it wasn't thát ugly, really. Even had a dishwasher and a washing machine. And free wifi.

Plus, the prices were very reasonable. You're not paying for a 5 star hotel, so you shouldn't be expecting 5 star hotel quality. The price matches the quality.

The restaurant serves very simple food, with the prices to match. Three types of pizza with 4 additional toppings to choose from, and 3-4 standard Norwegian dishes. We ate there for 400 NK with our family of 4 people. 

The area is one of my favourite in Norway. Here you have everything within a 30-40 minute drive: gletchers, plateaus, spectacular hiking trails, the fjords, skiing (even summer skiing), the hadangervidda, and even the coast could be reached in a day trip. Yet it isn't so ridiculously touristy as the Sognefjord area up north of the Telemarken to the east. Don't understand why though, in my opinion this region os much more beautiful and interesting as telemarken. 

Decent apartment!

This is the third time we stay in this hotel. First time we do it in the Summer. The staff is very friendly, rooms are spacious, clean and have everything you need. The views and walks from hotel are amazing. Great spot to stay in with family and do day trips from.
Hotel has kayaks available for booking in advance in the clean and beautiful just minutes from the hotel.

Friendly Staff and Beautiful Location

From the moment we walked into the lobby we were welcomed and sensed an overall comforting "vibe".Our apartment was spacious and inviting. The views were spectacular from every window. We sat on the deck and experienced the panoramic scene. Our dinner was delicious and plentiful. The beds were delightfully comfortable. Overall a very positive experience and found it difficult to pack up and leave! Thank you !!

Spectacular location with breathtaking views!!

Our assigned apartament exceeded my expectations ! It was big, roomy, clean, modern, the view of the mountains and water was nice, it was very quiet, the kitchenette was a so helpful. Our beds were at the second floor (( steep stairs, though ). My 10 year old son appreciated and enjoyed jumping on the trampolines a lot . Breakfast was not great, not a lot of variety, but OK. My family and I would stay there again, for sure . From reading other reviews i understand that each unit is independently owned so perhaps all are not the same however from what i saw they all looked great. For the comfort we had, the price was right. You can not go wrong with this hotel.
