Had visited the island with my wife on our honeymoon and absolutely enjoyed the hospitality.
Asanka and his team including Lasith and a few others took really good care of us. 
The team in the kitchen made sure our vegetarian meal requirements were met including desserts.

Watersports at the island are highly recommended especially snorkelling since it has a beautiful reef. 

Would recommend at least 4 nights here 

Beautiful island with warm and friendly staff

So first of all apologies for the time it has taken me to get around to writing this review. But I do have a legitimate reason - a broken wrist. 
We had an amazing time here. Room was lovely , clean and comfortable. Food was so good , I cant believe how much we ate. Lots of choice  and everything was of a high standard. 
So now the broken wrist............
I did this one hour after arriving at the resort, total accident. Putting it down to tiredness and Covid brain fog( I had covid about a month before we went on holiday) 
How the guys at the hotel reacted and dealt with this was fantastic. Within an hour or so of falling I was back on a boat to the mainland. Taken to a private hospital and received fantastic care. 

Special thanks to all involved. Big shout out to Shimaal who met me in Male and looked after me when he should have been off duty. Stuck to me like glue until I was discharged.

Thanks to Ajay and Rahul for there support and taking care of us throughout the rest of the week. Also for organising transport and documentation back and forward from the hospital 

A great bunch of people ( Lisa you should be proud) and an amazing resort . We will return some day so next time I can go in the sea! 
 

Amazing Experience with Amazing People

Overall, what a fantastic little resort. We received a warm welcome, with extremely friendly and helpful staff encountered throughout the various departments throughout our stay.

Accommodation: Our pool water villa was clean and comfortable but not exactly what we expected as access is from the beach and therefore is not really “in the water” (probably my fault, should have researched this one a bit better). Large and picturesque “outdoor” bathroom but the room itself a little small and consisted of the bed and sleeper-couch. 2 chairs and a table would have been nice. Pool and deck area boasts spectacular morning and afternoon ocean sunset views. However, it’s quite small and you’re either in the pool or on your deck chair, not much room for anything else. Room, air conditioning issues were not resolved after first notifying reception, resulting in 2 nights of irregular room temperatures.

Dive Center: well run with all the equipment available for rental. Dive master very patient with less experienced diver. Lots of fish around the reefs, which have sadly been severely bleached in some areas. Good snorkeling around the house reef.

Spa: clean and relaxing. 1 treatment was included in the price.

Bar: quick friendly service but attention to detail lacking. For example, drink mixers (orange juice/ tonic water etc) not kept in the fridge. As a result drinks served at room temperature with ice added to cool them down (melts really fast), instead of ice to keep them cold.

Restaurant: 
SPICE (buffet main restaurant) a lovely selection for all meals, catering for all tastes (including a vegan counter). Meat dishes (eg roast) tasty, but generally over-cooked and a bit dry.
THE GRILL: (Fine dining) - wife had taken a cooking class earlier in the day and Chef went out of his way to make our meal special. Meals were well presented given the restrictions of the beach setting. Lamb chops were very tasty, but had been oddly cut and were extremely fatty.

Gym: no running machine. 1 elliptical trainer, 1 seated cycle and some resistance machines. Limited free weights. At least 2 running machines needed.

Island itself is quite small and does not have much beach space. The main pool and adult pool (no-kids allowed) however, never felt crowed or noisy.

Next time at OBLU Helengeli, will book the beach pool villa. And dive more! 😉

Great, relaxing few days away...

My first trip and holiday in a year, due to Covid.  Any reservations about a holiday in this crazy world were quickly set aside as we arrived in this amazing resort.   It is really spacious and whilst it was busy, it never felt crowded.  There are so many different areas that you can relax in.  We went for 4 nights (5 days) and it felt like we had been relaxing for a week.   All the staff are amazing, really friendly, from the team keeping the gardens lush, to the bar tenders mixing cocktails, to the restaurant staff greeting us every day.  The main buffet restaurant, has a wide variety of food, and we were never bored of the choices.  I personally loved the fresh sashimi at lunchtime and my husband enjoyed the curry choices (breakfast, lunch and dinner).  The deluxe rooms are spacious and very clean.  The bed was really comfortable and the AC good.  You can take your shoes off at the start of the holiday and not put them back on if you like.  Sandy paths and beach front walks a must.   The reef is directly in front of the property.  You can take your own snorkel gear, or borrow from the well stocked dive centre.  It was top notch gear.  We saw lots of fish, turtles and small black reef sharks, just snorkeling off the beach.  Dolphins also visited a couple of times for an early breakfast display. Two pools, one adults only.  Gym is small but good and a there is a lap pool.  The spa is amazing - recommend you plan for two visits at least.   We missed the curry cooking class- you learn in the morning and make your own lunch.  Highly recommended by a couple sitting next to us on our last lunch.    We had a covid test organised by the resort and it was all very professional.  I can't recommend this resort enough.  Incredible, relaxing, friendly and safe paradise.

Dream Holiday

Super getaway, all-inclusive and easy to get to even during this pandemic.  Great sea life, setting and pools for all ages, very professional and friendly staff lead by a very capable GM.

All ensuite rooms have a sea view and are very close to the water's edge where amazing diving or snorkelling fest awaits you. 

The kitchen rolls out superb meals day after day, while guests sit overlooking the sea where it is not uncommon to see a pod of dolphins slip by or the resident Heron getting its daily meal

Excellency abounds  - From the GM all the way across the board

Comfortable stay and excellent service from all the staff. Room cleaning, restaurant service was top notched. Ideal resort for quite and relaxation stay. small barefoot island with sift sandy roads. wonderful snorkeling house reef.

Great stay

We had an amazing 7 days here in December. From the moment we got to the Island we received nothing but 5* service. Thank you to Lahiru for doting on my 1 year old son. He used to carry my son around and spoil him with drinks. And Akeef and Shaheen for always making sure we had what we needed. 7 days of total bliss! The Maldives really is picture perfect.

An amazing 7 days

At oblu v had a wonderful stay, the staff was very courteous, island was very beautiful. A very well maintained and beautiful island. The corals were just incredible and the beauty cannot be explained in words. Julia, lier, and haasif made us feel very comfortable during our diving/snorkeling session,  and udaya at Helen's. Overall, the experience was just incredible.

Incredible experience

Everything was over any expectations! We spent 10 lovely days in this super resort with living reef. Snorkeling was amazing, we swam alongside various colorful reef fishes, we were just in front of friendly sharks, we saw octopus, murena, stingray, dolphins, and swam together with turtles!
Deluxe beach villa was quite cozy and was cleaned up every day thanks to Shizam from the cleaning staff. 
The food was various and mostly delicious.
We met and made friends with many interesting guys from different countries out there.
Special thanks to Asanka from the bar, he is the most friendly and careful bartender I've ever met.

Lovely vacation in OBLU

I stayed in Oblu for 10 days with my wife and son and all of us were delighted by atmosphere , hotel itself, surroundings and facilities. 

Staff is very helpful and friendly, our son was getting extra attention all the time, which he loved :) 

Special thanks to staff from Helen's Pool Bar, they were really helping us out with the little one so we could enjoy our holiday fully :)

I totally recommend Diving Centre, they have lot of amazing trips and great diving courses, I did a freediving course (thanks to Jules for being a patient and great teacher).
