Harmonie Tropical was a wonderful and welcome escape from the Connecticut cold. My husband and I ran away to Guadeloupe in the last week in February where it was in the mid to upper 80's every day. Harmonie Tropical was located on a beautiful mountain scape where we could watch the sunset every day from our adorable little shared balcony. The hotel was a shared house set up like a mix between a bed and breakfast and a hostel. My husband and I stayed in the room with the private bathroom where we had our own little window to look out and see the sunset as well. We had a shared living area and kitchen to utilize for cooking our own meals or storing our fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a grocery store only 5 minutes from the hotel where we bought most of our items for our week long stay. The other guests were wonderful to chat with, most spoke some broken English. We had other guests from France and Germany. The hosts were great, they were friendly and accommodating. They spoke French, Italian and English!  and they were able to converse well with us to let us know the hotel etiquette and help us find local sites to explore. We took advantage of their home cooked Italian cuisine that was nothing short of delicious in a quiet and peaceful little balcony setting.  The hotel itself is tucked away in a residential area. There is a tourist area not far from the hotel for boat trips, kayaking, food and more. There are also plenty of local places to eat nearby. I unfortunately am allergic to seafood, and many of the places offered mostly fish and shellfish, however many of the places also had a healthy offering of beef and chicken as well. The beaches on this side of the island were okay, and there is one in the tourist area only 5 minutes from the hotel, but if you are looking for the beautiful white sand beaches, I am afraid most of them are located on the other smaller side of the island in Grande-Terre about 1-2 hours away. However, if you are more of an adventurer, this side of the island offers ample hiking, snorkeling and diving fairly close. There are also Rhum distilleries, coffee plantations, and Cocoa plantations to explore! My husband and I hiked the tallest waterfall and the volcano, both located only 40 min from the hotel. The Rhum distilleries and Coffee plantations were also about a 40 minute drive. You will find the cocoa plantation only about 15 minutes away. They offer an insightful guide to how chocolate is made and allow you to taste the many wonders of the cocoa they harvest. The volcano and the waterfall are not for the occasional hiker, these are both 2 hour hiking trails up endless staircases and rocky cliff-sides, but well worth the rigorous terrain.  The coffee plantation is not really worth it unless you speak French, they are not kind or accommodating to English speakers. The Bologne Rhum Distillery is wonderful. We did not get to take the tour, but the gift shop offers free Rhum tasting and a variety of Rhum products. Needless to say, we were not bored on the island, there was plenty to explore and the landscapes were breathtaking. My only recommendation would be to rent a car, as there is too much to see and taxi's seem overpriced. We left our stay at the Harmonie Tropical very satisfied with the service and the atmosphere, I would certainly recommend it to any adventurer!

Some practical hints.  This is the sister property to Harmonie Creole, so into that into your GPS since they are literally across the street from each other, and you will check in at the Creole.   You may want to rent a car with a larger than minimum engine to get up the hills around most of Guadeloupe.  We can drive a stick, but those who are not proficient should definitely spring for an automatic.  The property is about 5 minutes drive to Pigeon where we went diving and ate some meals.  

We rented the room with the private bath, which was as chic and spotless as the pictures suggest.  The kitchen had all new appliances for those that like to cook.  Hint on the stove, press the Lock Button steadily for 10 seconds to get the stove to power up as it locks to prevent kids from using it.  The Tropicale is more private, we shared with another couple but it was never intrusive.

A nice breakfast is available at the Creole for 15€ pp.  The hosts also offer a vegan dinner at the Creole for 35€ which contains a wide array of appetizers, glass of wine, entree, and dessert.  This was the culinary highlight of our trip, and should not be missed.   You can also get beer, wine and cocktails at the bar.

The hosts were friendly, professional, and excellent Italian chefs.   Definitely recommend both the room and the dinner.

Excellent gite with welcoming hosts

We were happy to have had stayed at Hotel Tropical! We stayed in a room with private bathroom and had access to a communal living room and kitchen. The kitchen had a filtered water source which we appreciated. The porch was a lovely spot to have morning coffee. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We stayed in the room with private bathroom and ocean view. The apartment is very well located, close drive to markets, restaurants and scuba shops. The staff is very nice, they offer free Italian food at their bar every day at 6:30. I would return if I have the opportunity.

Very nice bed and breakfast

Fantastic services from hotel owners/staff. Stayed up extra late to welcome us in after an extended delay on our flights. Quite difficult to find the place, but otherwise a fantastic stay. Clean, bright, quiet (such as it can be with all the animals/insects chorusing at night), and friendly decor welcome the guest. Shared bathroom in the house-turned-hostel. Stunning views from the guest house and main house. Would recommend to any travelers interested in an "local" experience. Easy access to Bouillant, Malendure, the Parc Mammales, National Park, and other great natural sites on Basse Terre. Prepare to hunt if you're driving yourself in!

Gem in the tropics.

We were very happy to choose this very hard to find place to stay without google maps:-) We paid in advance our first 3 nights. From outside and photos it didnt take our breath away, but things changed when we got our room and saw in a night shared terrace where in the morning with gorgeous view can be enjoyed perfect all home made breakfast and in the evening excellent coctails or other drink everything with care made by two very friendly Italian owners. Once again thanks both to very pleasant stay and cae we got. Not very near to beach but clean, spacy, great atmosphere, perfect! Higly recommended to rest and enjoy! Worth of value.

Very cozy&friendly, higly recommended

I loved my stay at Harmonie Creole. It's a bit out of the way and requires a car but once you have that, you're good to go. One thing I'd change is having a key to come and go as needed. We had to get let in and out of the front gate which was inconvenient. Otherwise, the place is very clean, the breakfast is amazing and the views are breathtaking!

Great italians run the place. They speak English and not only French☺ rooms are comfy,with great view,tereace and all you need. We recomend.
