I'm so glad I decided to stay at Hangover Hostel for the 2 weeks in Colombo. It was my first hostel stay ever and it has changed my perception of hostels. I recommend you don't think twice before making your booking here. The room was clean and comfortable, the Hangover team (Isaac, Abdul, Dulaaj, Sunil, the Tuk-Tuk guy) were amazing, the other guests were super nice and friendly, and the resident dog Hannah was the adorablest of them all. I landed on SL New Years and was treated with some nice local brunch and dinner from the hostel. I truly enjoyed the board-game sessions, the beach trip, the musical evening and the random conversations during my entire stay. The SL Easter Sunday Attacks (21 April 2019) happened after my first week there, and the way the Hangover team took control of the situation to ensure all the guests' security and comfort is highly commendable. Special shoutout to Isaac for being a super Manager and for handling all our stress/fear super tactfully. I know I'm definitely staying with Hangover Hostel when I visit SL next, and I hope you do too! :)

Hangover is exceptionally good!

Lovely staff, clean and comfortable good-sized room. Good kitchen facilities and nice chilled vibe throughout whole hostel. Great location! During the stay we noticed routine deep cleaning, and felt like the staff really cared about good standards. Would 100% stay again :)

Brilliant hostel

I went to Colombo between 10 and 14 Feb, and the choice was difficult, there are many hostel, but when I found hangover, I was thinking to go because its looks great place for me, upon my arrival the staff received me and show me the room, there are many options, there he sharing room it’s with AC and it’s so clean! There are magnetic card Abd you can keep you languages.! 
The staff are helpful as they gave all the support. The evening you can cook and the re are people’s to meet . 
I recommend this place and I will come Back next year) 

The best Hostel visited in my life 

Had a cool experience at Hangover Hostel in Arugam. Brand new facility, first guest on site. Location a bit away from town but only a quick walk down to the beach and surf breaks. And still only a 15 walk or so in to town and restaurants. Location is still pulling final touches together but should be in line with other Hangover locations. Staff was super accommodating and laid back. Should have a cool chill out area in front once finished. Have kitchen facilities available and water refill station. Thanks guys!

Check in staff friendly, room nice seemed clean. 
-Small family of cockroaches in room but some insects to be expected in Asia!
- Location bit out the centre- need to bus/tuktuk
- Main issue- double rooms (which are pricey for a hostel) directly off entrance lounge/reception. Guy on night-shift played loud music on main speakers after midnight-awkward when you have an early train! We had poor sleep and had to ask the staff member to turn it down twice. Wouldn't have minded so much if it was other guests! I'd go elsewhere if you want a double room.
