Amazing steak , amazing chips and amazing blue cheese sauce and reasonable prices .the pub has been transformed since the new owners have taken over and has changed back to how a country pub should be !!

We had a lovely Sunday Roast here during the Easter Holidays. A choice of lamb, beef, pork or a very generous selection of all three. All meat is sourced locally, with as much veg as you like. The dauphinois potatoes particularly good. Do visit.

This place is off the beaten track’s beaten track but when the weary traveller eventually finds it there efforts will be rewarded (first time I didn’t have a sat nav)

From the moment I phoned to book the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.  Even when my departure was delayed by work my extra stay proved no prblem 
The star off the show is Matt.  Whether behind the bar or in front of it he is a barrel of laughs and makes everyone feel at home.  Coming a close second is Jason the chef.  If you like fish and/or like interesting well-cooked food with a modern twist (fillet of Sea Bass on a bed of deep fried cabbage, sauté potatoes and a cockle salsa)  have a chat to him and if he can he will rustle up something off that beaten track.

This is the village pub so it can get a bit noisy before closing time but not excessively so and, after all it is a pub first and foremost so bear that in mind if you are thinking of booking.

Out of the Way but Worth Finding

4.5 stars on booking.com but certainly doesn't live up to that.  Pre booked for four nights on the strength of that and the fact it was claimed it was recently refurbished.  However, less of a refurbishment and more of painting and papering over the cracks but the paint and  paper were definitely not applied well enough to last. No double glazing and  our room over the bar so no quiet until after midnight. Oh, and overlooking a main road so not a lot of sleep.  Definitely not clean either and an interesting incline in the room floor.  Checked out after one night. 
Whilst this was only £60 per night I believe it is reasonable to expect better than this.

Not a great place to stay

After a long journey the barman Mat made us feel like guests in his own home. The accommodation was warm, clean and cosy with a top notch full English breakfast. If in need of a cheaper cab, ask for Niki at the bar. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the greyhound inn for a authentic country get away.
