496 reviewsMy wife and I recently stayed seven nights at Frances' Lodge. The Lodge is located 10 minutes from Siena, therefore close enough to get to the hustle and bustle of Siena, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet place of solace. We stayed in the Yellow Room, more than adequate space, bright morning light and a great ensuite with an enormous shower. Franco & Franca are truly wonderful hosts...they make one's stay at Frances' Lodge a great experience. There isn't much they don't know about Tuscany, and in Franco's case, he is extremely knowledgable of the history of Tuscany. which adds to one's day trips to surrounding Tuscan hill towns. My wife and I have been to Tuscany six times, but they gave us some small villages in Tuscany to explore beyond the most common. Places like Vertine, Monticchiello, Volpaia (in Chianti) and Colle Val d'Elsa to name a few. Less tourists, seeing how people live, and viewing churches built in the 12th-16th century with magnificent frescoes that would otherwise go unnoticed. They are perfect hosts. The faculty has free wifi, breakfast is served every morning and weather permitting, breakfast is in the garden overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Guests select from an ala carte menu each evening, select the time to wish to have breakfast and voila, Franco puts his "waiter" hat on and serves. The pool area is beautiful, a real treat for guests to just unwind and relax. We had a wonderful experience there and recommend it highly to those wanting to explore Tuscany yet have a quiet place to have as their base. We look forward to returning there soon.
