Fort Whaley Campground

My family had a great time at this campground! All of the staff were so kind and helpful. Our cottage that we stayed in was so cute and very clean. This is a great, fun place to vacation at. We will definitely be back! Thank you Sun  Outdoors Ocean city! 

We stayed a week in RV lot 47 last September for OC Bike Week.  The campgrounds were very clean as well as the pool and shower houses.  I'm not sure what all the complaints on here are about, they mostly seem to be around the fact that the rates have increased in recent years.  We enjoyed Fort Whaley so much that we booked our 2022 bike week reservation before we left in 2021. We liked the fact that it was away from the resort, but only a 15 minute ride to downtown OC.  Best location for campers that bring motorcycles.  I said "Yes" to water park, because they have a pool, and will give you passes to the waterpark at their other campground

Hidden Gem! We’ve been here many times with our travel trailer and on this visit got to see upgrades since campground was sold. Nice improvements with new pull-thru sites. Concrete pads, level sites, trees, large grass areas for our pets, and nice fire pits, the place looks great. Quiet at night! It’s just far enough away from Ocean City, too. No roaming teens in golf carts all night. We’ve stayed at Frontier Town and Castaways and Ft. Whaley is where we keep coming back. Took advantage of 4th night free special again.

My family and I had the best time during our recent stay at Fort Whaley.  We have been campers for years and this is definitely one of the cleanest campgrounds we have ever been to.  The staff is so friendly and there is so much to do!  We couldn’t believe you get free passes to the Waterpark at their other location with your stay!  We will definitely return.

Had a wonderful week at Fort Whaley with our two grandsons. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. The young adults who led the activities were fabulous with the children, very friendly and polite.  The pool was always clean.  Loved the bus service to Frontier Town and the water park, also to Ocean City.  Noticed some upgrades since last year to the property and the landscaping.  Will come again. Thanks Fort Whaley folks.


My family and I decided to stay one night here camping, as we have never been camping before but wanted to try it. They do not take reservations for one night however you can walk on and stay. Trying to get a hold of anyone there is frustrating you are on hold forever and I had to keep trying to call. Finally when I did get through they were informative and helpful and answered any question I had. Since we had never been camping we had no idea what to expect and were nervous. Our campsite was wonderful, large and clean. We did not have a picnic table and my husband told the front desk, not to much longer and two maintenance men showed up and brought us one they were very friendly. The bathrooms were clean and close walk. The mini golf looked brand new and was fun to play. We took a trip to frontier land and took advantage of the discount for the theme park. My husband and son also enjoyed fishing at the catch and release pond. Check out was a breeze. We are already planning on going back for the weekend in Oct for the Halloween themes.

Great place, our cabin was clean and cold in the heat of summer! Take your own toilet paper, paper towels and bedsheets if staying in a cabin!

It was quiet and relaxing .  It was close to many other activities that we like to do . The cabin was clean and the airconditioner were comfortables.The Mini golf course was fun and challenging.

I camped with my two sons (ages 4 and 7) last weekend and had an amazing weekend.  Our site was clean, level and clear with a beautiful concrete pad and we had all the amenities and both playgrounds within sight.  Everything was very clean and highly maintained. We spent a lot of time swimming and rented a four-seater pedal cart which was a hit with the boys.  We played laser tag, tennis and the miniature golf course was either brand new or the most highly maintained course I've ever seen.  It was the perfect mix and availability of activities without being overkill. The campground is very spacious which gives it a nice open feel without neighbors or amenities being packed in together.  It hit all the sweet spots for us as we are not fans of big RV resorts but do like more activities and amenities than state parks on occasion.  This will definitely be at least an annual trip for us.  I would call it more of an observation than a complaint but I just don't understand the obsession with golf carts at campgrounds.  I find all the golf carts buzzing around all day and into the night slightly annoying.

What a trip!

Great family stay

This is a great campground. Has plenty to do for kids: mini golf, arcade, basketball, bmx bike park, pond for fishing, tennis, pool, playgrounds and covered pavilion with activities. Sites are large. 2 negatives to mention:  if you are near the pond, there is goose poop everywhere!  Bath houses can use some updating & a bit more cleaning.  Only 20 mins to Ocean City. We would come back again! 

Lots of space

This place was a ghost town when we visited, however we had to pay an extra fee when we made reservations to hold the site we wanted (not sure why when there was really no one there). 

It was a quiet place and not much to do (covid restrictions) other than the pool which was on the small side but at least a place to cool off.  Nice thing is that their sister-campground is Frontier Town so we could go to their water park.

Was within a short drive of OCMD, Assateague and other local attractions.  Would go here again and would recommend.

Quiet Place

Everything went well besides the floor and couch of the cabin being dirty until our exit when we received a call stating that check out was ten when our email says 11am and it was 1040 when i got to the office and showed the girl the email she got nasty and stated” she could charge ne rigth now “ and i said ok but your email shouldnt state 11am and does not specify camper or cabin, she then said your paperwork says 10am i said we never got a copy of that paperWork and thats why we had an email, again she got nasty and stated “like i told your husband this is a one time curtesy “ well then dont put it on the email absolutely ruined our trip and definitely wont be back

Terrible customer service

Booked a cabin over Easter weekend. The front desk gave me a key and a gate card and told me they would charge me ($40 for one and $50) for the other if I lose it. They then radioed housekeeping and told me they let housekeeping know we were there. Housekeeping met me at the cabin and wanted to do a walkthrough. The lady pointed out everything and told me again and again how I would be charged if anything was missing (silverware, cups, etc) and if anything was broken. She had me sign a paper to the condition of the cabin. Then mentioned about being charged if I lost the gate key or door key. I’ve never damaged or stole anything before and also never had such an abrupt greeting or welcome to any lodging. I did realize one day later the can opener was broke and I got a new one in minutes (though I had to drive to the office to ask since no one was answering the phone). The cabin was adorable. The place was clean. The staff acted like we were going to steal something. Even dropping the key and card off was met with “ok”. They didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our stay. The staff needs better training in hospitality
