Ferry Boat Inn

Sometimes after a week of all the fresh fish you can eat, you really need a burger. FBI is the answer!   Consistently delicious, plus the callaloo soup will cure anything that ails you, including but not limited to one too many of FBI’s rum lunches. 

Our first time dining at the Ferry Boat. Went for the Monday night butchers burger special. One of the best burgers ever. Didn’t catch his name but the bartender was added entertainment. Made us a tequila cocktail- delicious ( don’t have more than 2) we will definitely be back. 

We returned to FBI after a 2 year absence, due to hurricane Irma,and our welcome could not have been warmer! Christian was behind the bar and Marjorie was in the kitchen. It was like old times. I have the fish sandwich most of the time and it is cooked to perfection. This also home to the best burger on the island although, the caeser salad and the callaloo soup are also very good. The rum punch is a traditional one and not sickly sweet but very refreshing. I’m glad they have survived hurricane and are back in business.

We enjoyed our stay so much and definitely will be back. The inn is located within walking distance to the ferry from St. Martin. The unit we stayed in was a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, everything was very clean. The only negative is the water pressure in the bedroom bathroom is nearly non-existent but the 2nd bathroom worked perfect.  The owner Marjorie is a wonderful woman... by the end of our stay we felt like we were part of the family. Her son, crazy fun cousin and staff were all very nice and attentive to us. The restaurant is not open on Sunday so she left some fruit, cheese and a few other items in our unit for us as we arrived mid- Saturday.  The food is very good on site...we really enjoyed the wings and burgers. It is located on a beach but due to the boat traffic it isn't the best beach the island has to offer... Marjorie arranged for a car to be delivered to us the following day so we could take full advantage of what the island had to offer... everything is within a 15 min drive. Plenty of free parking is available right in front of the unit. Staying here was so enjoyable as we were able to hang out with the staff and learn so much about the island... it's a true island experience.... we will be back

I just returned from four nights at the Ferry Boat Inn and was VERY pleased with everything !!!  The restaurant serves excellent food and a fab rum punch !!!
Close to most of the best beaches. Quiet, peaceful location. The rooms are huge and very clean.  The entire family which run the Ferry Boat Inn are the kindest and most helpful of people !!!  They are the best.
I would advise renting a car to best see the island.
Wonderful stay.....will be back.  And the dogs....sooooo sweet. I miss them already !!!!

Burger night

Overall I would say I was disappointed at the accommodation at the FBI. This was mainly to do with cleanliness and working order of the bathroom. In a hot climate, I want my shower to work well. I did not use the kitchen apart from the fridge, which was clean inside but outside was aged as was all of the kitchen units and equipment. 
PROS
Spacious apartment, large airy bedroom, comfortable clean large bed, 2 bathrooms, plenty of parking, on site bar and restaurant, friendly owner, provisions supplied which was welcomed eg bottled water, juice, cheese, coffee, welcome rum punch was great, relaxed atmosphere.
CONS
Bathrooms and kitchen need replacing and the plumbing sorted. When you take a shower, the water accumulates in the tray and you end up standing in your dirty water which I find unpleasant. There is little water pressure so difficult to rinse off soap, never mind washing your hair, temperature difficult to control (either too cold or scalding). On an island with little water, you need to run the shower for ages to get tepid water temperature. Second bathroom was no better, it did not have a shower head at all, just a pipe coming out of the wall. Windows and patio doors very aged and needed cleaning or replacing. 



Mixed bag

On entering the bar not even a hello, good start. First real ale given to me was cloudy so had a different one slightly better so drank it decided to give them another chance opted for another choice drinkable but unfortunately not much better. Suggest customers stick to larger or cider. Not the pub I worked in years ago.

Beautiful location

Apparently the Ferryboat Inn is letting The Butchery use their restaurant on Monday nights.  We went tonight and were very dissatisfied with the meal as well as the establishmen. Two of us had the lobster roll. It was very watery and very salt forward with very little lobster.  My wife had the Tree Hugger (veggie burger)  it was way over cooked and was missing some of the listed items on her plate.  We let the waitress know about the salt level of our rolls and that the avocado was missing off my wife's.  No sorry, no avocado and no offer for compensation of change of dish.  Ferryboat Inn is a wonderful restaurant with great food.  Just don't go on Monday because you will be dissapointed.
